I heard this story on the nationally syndicated radio show of Glenn Beck.
A sheriff/police officer from Texas called it in earlier today (wish I had a transcript of it).

I was going to post the story earlier, but I wasn't sure I had all the details right. Then, someone posted it on another board I visit.

From the other board:
He once staged a "pro" capital punishment rally down here in Texas. He hired extras to "act" as if they were celebrating an execution with beer and BBQ while a convicted cop-killer was being put down after 24 years on death row. He filmed the rally and dubbed it "this is how Texans celebrate an execution." The victim's family were deeply affected. BOTH the pro-victims rights group AND anti-capital punishment group condemned Moore's actions.

Additional info I remember:
- The caller was a sheriff/police officer who was interviewed by Moore's production crew.
- Moore hired a cheerleading team to be outside the jail where the execution took place.
- Moore had a "scoreboard" built that read "Texas Bush: 1XX (don't recall the exact number), Florida Bush: 2"
