Hi, i’m verry sorry if it has been said before. But I’m french and new to this forum, so i’m kinda struggling.
Where can I find download links or torrents to projects 4K77, 4K80 and 4K83 ?

Also, do you recommend me the version with or without DNR ?

I was in the same situation a month ago. There is no 4K80 yet, however there exists a Renegade Grindhouse version of The Empire Strikes back in 1080p which is quite nice. I found a Torrent-link after making a Google search. 4K77 version 1.0 and 4K83 v.1.0 are also quite easy to find as Torrents if you try a Google search. The later 4K77 v.1.4 and 4K83 v.1.1 are hard to find as Torrent files (I didn’t find any) but 4K83 v.1.3 was found after some extensive search.

Also, do you recommend me the version with or without DNR ?

This is of course my subjective opinion, but I found the DNR version of 4K77 to be quite ugly compared to the no-DNR verion, at least on my 77" OLED. The latter look beatiful, especially version 1.0. The DNR has been applied to heavily on 4K77 which renders the picture more like digital video compared to the organic filmic look of the no-DNR version.

When it comes to 4K83 I really enjoyed the version 1.3 which only uses a slight DNR which retain some of the film grain and has a strikinly beautiful color palette. The non-DNR 1.0 and especially 1.1 versions looks nice too because of their more pronounced film grain, especially the latter which has a nicer color timing.

Plese do a search on your own but if you cannot find any links, send me a message and I will direct you to some of them.

Really nice piece by RetroBlasting celebrating 4K77. I really related to the notion of ‘relaxing’ during viewing (as opposed to being distracted by revisions, seams, corrections etc etc). Apologies if this has been posted already…

Excuse me, did 4K77 just get released on physical media? If so, how do I get it?

No and it never will be. Please do not support people selling this on eBay or other sites.

No, no. I mean, did anybody ever manage to burn it onto a physical disc?

The 1080p version is available ready to burn, with menus etc. Not much point creating an ISO for the 4K version, as most people can’t burn it, and those who can probably won’t be able to play it anyway.

If you reduce the bitrate far enough to fit it on a BD50, it may or may not play on your UHD player (most won’t). blank BD 100 M discs are not cheap, and many will not work on your stand alone UHD player.

Most UHD players have a USB input, and can play MKV files, so why not just put that file on an external drive or USB stick and plug that in? Why bother with burning a disc at all? Is it really worth all that extra effort just to see a menu and click play? The end result is exactly the same: you watch the movie on your TV.

If all you want is a case on the shelf, then print one out and stuff an SD card or USB stick inside it.

Lol Tomas…I have what you have (plus extra versions of SWHS) but i don’t use a flashdrive…I have all my digital media stored on 7 ten-terabyte external hardrives. (Need to buy 2 more…disk space is low)

An archivists work is never complete…sigh.

Where can I download the grindhouse of empire please

… somehow I really prefer Silver Screen Edition because it has just the right '70s theater grainy look consistently (can’t explain why) and it strikes me just the right way. But with 4K77 I had to go with the DNR version upon evaluating the various choices. I don’t know what it is, but the grain doesn’t hit me the same way with 4K77… something’s different about it in my mind. It sort of varies from sequence to sequence. But then switching to the scrubbed 4K77 with DNR, the experience is quite enjoyable. Strange. Maybe SSE is the right amount of grunge and 4K77 DNR is the right amount of pristine. So glad to have these choices available though and that’s important. Many thanks to TN1 for their herculean efforts. I’m old so it’s good to see these before I die.

I have no idea what edition of 4K77 I have, but it seems to lean towards green.

Sounds as version 1.0 which has greens and yellows.

Guess I’ll be looking for 2.0 then!

I’ve got v1.0 and I’m thinking on downloading v1.4, is there any differences between both of the versions?

Honestly, you guys might want to hold off. Dre is doing a reel by reel color correction that looks excellent and preserves the original color differences from shot to shot from the print (1.4 uses Sanjuro’s shot by shot color correction, which does not) and removes the green tint, and Williarob will be using Dre’s new correction for an update that will also replace many of the patched-in Blu-Ray frames with new 4K print scans (some from an LPP print, some from a 1997 SE print).

No set timetable or anything but I don’t think it’ll be too crazy long since Dre’s been working through the reels fairly quickly and I believe Williarob has already begun prepping the replacement frames so he can just drop in Dre’s LUTs once they’re finished.

Seems to me like it’ll be well worth the wait and might make v1.4 effectively obsolete.

Good news. Hope he removes the digital noise seen in that Red R2 scene on Tatooine as well.

Will there be any frames used from the 4K Disney+ version or have they got all the frames from prints now?

If non-print sources are still needed, I have a feeling they won’t use any D+ frames until the physical discs are out so they aren’t hamstrung by streaming quality defects.

I don’t know, though. Hopefully williarob will chime in on that one.
