Why didn’t you use harmys documentary on Despecialized

Because I’ve always wanted a perfect encapsulation of the original movies. I don’t want to acknowledge the existence of any special editions, not even the re-release. There is no “A New Hope”. It doesn’t exist. The 1977 cut IS the movie.

Back after a break. While I’m not planning on releasing the art for my box sets, I did promise to upload the sleeve art. Here are the cases, interiors and disc art from my box set. I’m also including prequel and sequel covers.

Below are a preview of just the covers, but ALL the art can be found at this link:

And here I thought the original box was spectacular. You really outdid yourself with this one. Add jealousy to my admiration.

How heavy is the card stock use to create the boxes?

If you didn’t have card stock to create the slipcases, what did you use?

It’s not card stock. It’s chip board. This is thick, thick stuff. You can buy it on Amazon…

Would this work with your original box do you think?

Author

Yeah, it should work, but not with the slip case version.

I got really into collecting Criterion Collection Blu Rays over the past few years, so I had no problem ordering a few sets of blank cases and buying a printer to make an attempt at this incredible set. I’m close to attempting some kind of a box set, but I just wanted to pause and say thanks to Ron for the amazing designs. It was this thread that inspired me to make this and I couldn’t be happier with the end results. THANK YOU

Also, huge thanks as always to Harmy for doing the Lord’s work.

I’ll be passing along a few extra sets to spread the goodness around.

Free of charge, no doubt, and only to owners of official HD Star Wars releases, right?

Of course, and they’re empty cases anyhow.

Oh I see. I thought you meant with the discs.

(Which still would have been ok, btw, as long as they were gifts to accompany offcial releases.)

Regardless, that’s really cool of you!

Hey Ron, what card did you use to make the reproduction of the Topps cards? And also what material did you use to make the case of the Topps Cards?
Thanks.

I used heavy white card stock. The cardboard effect was done with the original Photoshop file. Hope that helps.

Hey Ron!!! I’m a huge fan of you. And I’m a huge fan of your work. (Also Star Wars)
I was wondering if you’ll ever release the Art for the cover slip (ultimate box set 2.0)
???

Again, while I won’t be releasing all the files this time (blame the pirates!!!), expect the sleeves to be posted soon. Enjoy!

Hi Ron,
Im a BIG fan of your art and the last month has been Pure torture. I really really really want to make a set for my bros and myself. I Eventually decided to try and Replicate your box design by manually finding the Images and photoshopping them together.
I fell prey to frustration after a day.
This is my most desperate hour. Help me Ron - Kenobi. Your my only hope.

The new extras include miniature stickers replicating the early pins released 1977. And the big new addition: a reproduction of the original program book at a scaled down size. Tried to match the glossy stock as best as I could as well.

Wow, stunning work! I really love your reproduction of the program book!

Did you recreate this by printing high quality scans of the original or did you make your own digital version? I could manage to find high quality scans of most of the pages (I am still looking for hi res images of pages 17, 18, 19). I think I could re-use the images from these scans and recreate the layout and text parts from scratch. Would you tell which fonts and materials you did use?

I really would appreciate some help/info on making my own copy of this 😉

Hey Ron, just curious, but how did you get the art onto the discs? I usually use labels for mine, but because there are no stompers for the full-face designs, they’re always misaligned. Thanks!

Yup. I scanned my copy of the program book and printed it on glossy photo paper. Still do not have it stapled, because I’m trying to find scaled staples to match the original.
best,
Ron

i bought white blurays and printed directly onto them with the Canon printer, which comes with a cd/disc insert.
Best,
Ron
