Regarding the eyes, I would much rather go for something that closer matches Palpatine from the original trilogy than Darth Maul, especially since Palpatine is who we are teasing.

I used two different weights of Snoke’s eye color intensity, one for when he is first struck by the lightsaber…

And one for when it settles a little. I felt like this would look more subtle and appropriate for resting Sith eyes.

I could keep the more intense look longer (which to me, if anything, appears too strong and more Maul than Palpatine). I also have control over the thickness and softness of the red ring around the yellow, which can be smoothed out a little, but again, I want to keep it in line with Palpatine (who has a thin sharp red ring) as much as possible.
