Yes, this is the Monty Python thread. Feel free to talk about the Flying Circus tv series, about the movies, about anything pythonesque or related to the pythons (such as "Fawlty Towers" or Terry Gillian), to re-create Monty Python skecthes (like we were doing on the Counting thread). But I wanr you not to get far too silly... or else I'll have to kill you using fresh fruit.

So, I belive we have plenty of Monty Python fans here? Huh? Huh? Nudge nudge say no more, knowhatimean, knowhatimean?

My friend recorded pretty much all of the Flying Circus episodes off of BBC and burned them to DVD. Tons of fun to watch, though I'm not a big fan of every sketch (can get kind of weird, if you know what I mean )

I do, but that was their main porpouse, the silliness. Sometimes they missed the spot, but they mostly hit.

By the way, my favorite sketches (I might forget some):

The Ministry of Silly Walks was a classic, though it pissed of Cleese to have to do walks for people all the time in public

I love the double vision Mt. Kilimanjaro expedition one, as well as the buying the bed sketch where the man can't say mattress or the seller puts a bag over his head .

And of course who doesn't love the Lumberjack song? Especially in the lost German episode... haha!

Of course, the Lumberjack song! And other sketches:

* Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition
* Buying a license for a fish

I never enjoyed the Spam sketch, as I felt the joke was just repeating "spam" a lot of times...

I liked "The World's Funniest Joke", where they used it as a weapon during WWII.

A group of translators was hired to each translate one word of the joke. One of them accidentally saw two words and was in a coma for several days.

Is there still time to confront it, let alone solve it, or is it too late? What are the figures, what are the facts, what do people mean when they talk about things? Alexander Hardacre of the Economic Affairs Bureau.
Cut to equally intense pundit in front of a graph with three different coloured columns with percentages at the top. He talks with great authority.
Hardacre: In this graph, this column represents 23% of the population. This column represents 28% of the population, and this column represents 43% of the population.
Cut back to presenter.
Presenter: Telling figures indeed, but what do they mean to you, what do they mean to me, what do they mean to the average man in the street? With me now is Professor Tiddles of Leeds University...
Pull out to reveal bearded professor sitting next to presenter.
Presenter: ... Professor, you've spent many years researching into things, what do you think?
Professor: I think it's too early to tell.
Cut to presenter, he talks even faster now.
Presenter: 'Too early to tell' ... too early to say... it means the same thing. The word 'say' is the same as the word 'tell'. They're not spelt the same, but they mean the same. It's an identical situation, we have with 'ship' and 'boat' (holds up signs saying 'ship' and 'boat') but not the same as we have with 'bow' and 'bough' (holds up signs), they're spelt differently, mean different things but sound the same. (he holds up signs saying 'so there') But the real question remains. What is the solution, if any, to this problem? What can we do? What am I saying? Why am I sitting in this chair? Why am I on this programme? And what am I going to say next? Here to answer this is a professional cricketer.
Cut to cricketer.
Cricketer: I can say nothing at this point.
Cut back to presenter.
Presenter: Well, you were wrong... Professor?
Pull out to reveal professor still next to him.
Professor: Hello.
Cut to close-up of presenter.
Presenter: Hello. So... where do we stand? Where do we stand? Where do we sit? Where do we come? Where do we go? What do we do? What do we say? What do we eat? What do we drink? What do we think? What do we do?
Mix to stock film of London-Brighton train journey in two minutes. After a few seconds the train goes into a tunnel. Blackness. Loud crash.

I've pulled together an edit of Life of Brian with most of the lost scenes edited back in. The opening bit with the Shepherds is priceless.

Yep. Just reviewed it and I have a couple of individual frames still to clip. The source material for the lost scenes is pretty bad (they found it on a 3/4" tape in a box if I recall correctly) but Python has never been about slick production quality anyway. Otto and the suicide squad is not only hysterical, but it actually explains their arrival at the crucifixion. I'm surprised that wasn't cut as well when so much of the setup was.

Well I belive they kept it for the silliness of it. It didn't really needed a set-up. I'm curious about what was this sub-plot about though...
