YOU made the set?

Heh, didn't know that... ^^

Thanks for the help though, I'm not sure what the problem with ESB is, but I really do appreciate the copies of ANH and RotJ. Thanks Editdroid!

After I download the bit torrent file, how do I burn it to DVD-R? And can I watch the file on my computer?
Author

The answers to these questions can be found here and here, respectively. ;-P

Sorry to be a doofus, but this is supposed to be a forum about OT restoration et. al.

Even so, I think these questions are already answered on this page...

DVD-ROM CONTENT folder for the EditDroid ROTJ DVD - Posted by............: The Starkiller
Release Notes
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This DVD-ROM CONTENT folder is meant to fill the void created by the missing
content on the EditDroid Return of the Jedi DVD. It is a RECREATION based on the
description given on the DVD and the content of the EditDroid Star Wars DVD. It
contains images and content of the Ralph McQuarrie Return of the Jedi Portfolio,
original scripts in PDF format and Star Wars sound effects in wav format.

I would like to thank the members of EditDroid for creating this most excellent
set of DVDs.

Hope Starkiller doesn't mind, but I've uploaded the 7mb .rar file to rapidshare for all to enjoy: Get It Here
Many thanks to The Starkiller for to putting it together.

Thank you s7en! Both for the information and for the link.
Quick question: In the torrent Rikter uploaded, there is no DVD-ROM content for ESB either.
Do you guys know if it is available anywhere?
And now, for your feature presentation:
The Classic Re-re-re-release of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back.
In this version the word "WOOKIE" has been changed to "HAIR CHALLENGED ANIMAL" and the entire cast has been digitally replaced by Ewoks.

It's assumed that there is none for ESB. The EditDroid SW and ROTJ discs have specific menu pages explaining they contain DVD-ROM content. ESB does not have any such page.

Even though there's apparently no 'official' dvd-rom contents for Empire, that hasn't stopped Starkiller from creating some to make all three releases consistent:

Release Notes

It is my understanding that the EditDroid DVD offering of The Empire Strikes
Back did not feature DVD-ROM content. However, Star Wars and Return of the Jedi
both did. So, for the sake of continuity, I have created a DVD-ROM CONTENT
folder to complement the ESB DVD.

This CONTENT folder features images and content of The Empire Strikes Back
Portfolio by Ralph McQuarrie and original scripts in PDF format. The
high-res images aren't the best, but they are the best I had available.

I would like to thank the members of EditDroid for creating this most excellent
set of DVDs. I hope they don't mind my small addition.

Again, I hope Starkiller doesn't object to me nicking his post and putting it here, and thanks once more for making and sharing it in the first place:

How do I do this exactly? I have IFOEdit, but no experience with it at all...

Make sure you have IFOedit version 0.95 or later (better command editing interface). Make a backup of the VIDEO_TS.IFO file (in case you mess up), and open the file in IFOedit. You'll see a hierarchical list of information stored in the ifo file. Click on VMGM_MAT and a plus sign will appear next to it. Click the plus to expand and you'll see First Play PGC. Click on it, then scroll down in the bottom window until you see the Pre Command(s). You'll see a command saying "(JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1." Right-click on that command and choose "Edit Command." Change the command to "(JumpSS_VTSM) Jump to Titleset Menu." Set the Title number to 1, Titleset number to 1, and Menu to "Root."

That should do it. Just save the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and try it out.

Ok, I do this, then when I save the new IFO, it asks me, "Do you want to save it as .BUP aswell?" Well, do I? Thanks!

Yes, ultimately you want to save it as .BUP as well. .BUP file is simply a BackUP of the .IFO and the two should identical.

Of course, it's wise to save copies of the original .IFO's before altering them permanently with IFOEdit. Personally I put copies of the original .IFOs &.BUPs in a seperate folder on the DVD when i burnt it, just in case I need them in the future, e.g. for re-torrenting, etc.

Has anyone seen a cover for the mono-mix version of EditDroid's ANH? The cover linked to and mentioned in this thread seems to be the updated version of ANH without the mono mix.

I'm thinking about doing my own cover if none exists.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

I've never even seen the mono-mix DVD... does it exist and if so how would one get it?

I am should be getting it soon, then I will be posting on a.b.starwars.

The video quality of this version is not as good as the later version we all know and love but there are hours of fun to be had switching between soundtracks looking for the audio changes.

Well worth a download when it hits a.b.starwars

What differences are there in those two versions, russs? I grabbed that first one yesterday off of a.b.sw and am currently (VERY SLOOOOWWWWLY) getting the second from myspleen. Is the second one worth continuing the dl if I already have the first?

Thanks.

I say to carry on getting the MySpleen version as the video is very much improved over the earlier version. Together they make a great set.

Taken from earlier in this thread

First, to clarify that there are two versions of "our" pre-ANH disc. The
first has a recreated crawl and three sound mixes: mono (from a VHS boot),
matrixed Dolby stereo (from the late 90's widescreen laserdisc), and the
Definitive Edition mix, which we believe to be a mixdown of the 1977
six-track 70mm mix. At the time we were unaware of Burtt's 1995 home video
remix, so we thought the widescreen LD track was identical to the 1977
stereo and labeled it as such. This first disc was encoded straight from
the Beta tapes using the multipass feature of the Sonic and thus retained
the not-quite-black letterbox bars w/ burned-in subtitles and did not enjoy
frame-by-frame cleanup of film and video artifacts. Whenever we encountered
a dropout on the tape, we'd have to re-transfer the affected portion from
the LD to another tape, lay down new timecode to match the master with the
error on it, and reencode that section. Quite a laborious process.

By the time we finished with the ESB and ROTJ discs, we had greatly
improved the process: an upgraded LD player and the uncompressed
digitization, by-hand cleanup and TMPGEnc encoding described earlier. We
therefore wanted to have another go at SW. This version retained the stereo
mix but left off the others in favor of an isolated score; including them
all was deemed too costly to the bit budget. This disc has a better picture
than the first, an improved crawl recreation with the ANH version as an
alternate stream, replaced subtitles and other goodies like the MacQuarrie
paintings and CD-ROM content. The only reason to watch the first version is
to enjoy switching back and forth between sound mixes to compare
them--otherwise, the second version (shown at the beginning of the "DVD
I've just acquired" thread and currently being torrented) is the one to
have.

Thanks for the info, russs. Sounds like they compliment eachother nicely. I watched the first one twice last night with the mono soundtrack on. It was awesome to hear all of those alternate lines and effects. Not to mention hearing Luke say, "Blast it, Wedge, where are you!". I felt like a kid again. (Which I have been finding happens on an almost daily basis when I find out some new peice of info or get a new disc because of finding this forum. You guys are great!)
