  • If there’s any other good way to link the massive civilian fleet with Luke’s ‘spark of hope,’ I’d do it.

There have been attempts to incorporate Palpatine’s message into this film or TLJ…IF that is successful, it may be thematically appropriate for Luke to do something similar at the very end.

For example, say that Ep 9 climaxes with Palpatine defeating the resistance fleet and then he sends out a message over the radio waves. “Witness the end of the resistance…” and then cut to a scene of the First Order ships starting to head towards planets…who then all react to Palpatine’s message continuing. “…there is no hope. There is no more struggle. There is only…the Final Order.”

Cut to reaction shots, sort of the opposite of ROTJ’s celebrations, except everyone is panicking as Palpatine laughs and continues…but then his signal is cut off. What’s happening? People all turn to their screens, confused. The familiar voice of Luke Skywalker emerges. “No…there is always hope.”

Cut to Rey hearing this as well and getting up. Palpatine pauses his message to deal with this…the resistance fleet all hears it as well, and then they turn to the sky to see Lando and the entire army. Lando: “They heard you, Luke, they all heard you.”
