Thanks for the words of encouragement Tavor and Duracell. Happy Holidays to you two.

I second this Rogue - I’ve never known you to be anything but reasonable and pleasant. I think we forget how good we have it here (thanks mods!). On that note, happy holidays/life-day everyone and may the Force do whatever your head-canon deems appropriate…

Did Rey flew Luke’s X-Wing without an astromech droid?

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!

There’s toxicity on all sides. It’s tough to express enjoyment for Star Wars.

Thank you guys, you’re both awesome! You’re right that there are a lot of varying opinions and when in comes to Star Wars there are always gonna be people who disagree with you about something!

Yes, but I’m assuming the Wayfinder may have fulfilled that need. Luke also reached Ach-To without an astromech, so either that X-Wing doesn’t need an astromech or maybe both Rey and Luke used the Force to guide them. Or a mix of both.

I’m kind of curious if Ben Solo took an Imperial TIE from the wrecked Death Star, because they don’t have a hyperdrive, right?

Alright during the Rey Kylo fight in the water Finn and Jana are inside the wreckage, then 10 seconds later they’re on top of the wreckage, then Rey pushes Finn through the waves, then we see them on Ajan Kloss with zero explanation of how they got there or when they repaired the Falcon. Just a small scene needed to be added to fix this…

The scene with them repairing the Falcon is when Jana reveals that she was a former storm trooper. One can assume they finished up repairs and headed back to base. I didn’t think it was a huge leap.

Correct.

Worse is how the FO TIEs kept following the Falcon at the start… What is that about?

I mean it doesn’t really hurt my enjoyment of the film, I still liked it, but it does seem a little jarring

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

You see the Falcon come to pick them up.

Probably the last movie where they developed lightspeed tracking.

I used to get into debates online about things, but there is just no point. I’ve had multiple experiences where I have given someone verifiable scientific information from multiple reliable sources regarding an objective subject, but people will just reject what they don’t want to be true no matter what, and will believe whatever they want despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Orwell was right, objective truth is dead. So debating something subjective like a movie makes even less sense. I pop into online threads and take in whatever joy I can find when i encounter it, and skip over the hate. I love The Rise of Skywalker. I had one of my very best experiences going to the marathon. I can’t wait to get it on disc. Your mileage may vary.

Not only that, she flew it without replacing all the parts that were rusted and corroded by being submerged in the ocean for several years.

There must be a Star Wars equivalent of Summit Racing Parts. I’m sure she could get one-day shipping on a few T-65 parts. 😉

I’m still trying to wrap my brain around Palpatine’s resurrection.

My current theory is Exogol Palpatine is the same one from the prequels. ROTJ was a clone being controlled like a puppet, a la Snoke. This would explain why he’s so decrepit and withered in TROS, and why he still has the face scars after being regenerated. My thinking is that Palpatine cannot simply clone a new body and transfer his soul into it, he can only control them remotely using the Force. This explains why he needs Rey. Eventually his body will grow so old (and possibly withered by excessive dark side energies) that even his life support equipment will no longer sustain him.

What do you think?

Was Maz Kanata a puppet this time around? The only reason I can imagine for that being the case is if the movie were being reconfigured so late in the process that it was easier to do it this way.

My stance on revising fan edits.

It looked like yes, but I believe the reason is that they initially wanted her to be a puppet in TFA anyway.

Rey is more than a little disrespectful to Betty Sue and Hank Palpatine (the names I have created for the brave couple who gave their life for her). It’s not like the “Skywalker” name is pure as newfallen snow.

I think Dark Empire’s idea was way better then the shit sandwich TROS gave us.

There are enough spoilers out there for me to form a judgement. And Dark Empire already had the idea that Palpatine needed a non-clone force-sensitive body to transfer his essence into.

A plot synopsis is not a movie. You may think the plot sounds dumb and it kind of is, but you can’t honestly call the movie a “shit sandwich” if you haven’t seen it. A movie is more than a series of plot points. An Empire Strikes Back plot synopsis would probably be boring as hell.

It just occurred to me that one of the funnier coincidences regarding the Rey Palpatine retcon is that now it finally makes sense that a scavenger on Jakku speaks with a British accent. Granted her parents, even if they were genuine “nobodies”, could come from the core worlds, though that seems a little weird for “filthy junk traders” that sold off their own child for drinking money. It doesn’t really matter, but at least the EU writers won’t have figure it out in the future.

No. You can’t form an opinion reading spoilers. That’s stupid. Stupid stupid stupid.

Star Wars has never been about the plot. If so, ROTS would be the best movie because it’s the most complex. And A New Hope is just some weird and boring side adventure.

No one liking TROS has said they like it because of it’s plot. It’s how they make that outline into a fun movie that makes us like it. If you give it a chance and don’t enjoy it, that’s fair, but you can’t think of Star Wars as just a Wookiepedia article.

Most food is not about salt, but no salt will result in a bland and forgettable dining experience. Even if the plot is not the most important element, there needs to be a balance. Fun and good are two different things to me. A film with little plot can be fun, but a good film needs a good plot. It is the foundation of a good story (imo).

That’s true. So much for that idea.

I wonder why they had Boyega do an American accent when they ignore accent inconsistencies in other characters.
