I desperately want a good edit of this film, but I struggle to imagine what’d be possible to do, beyond trimming out some minor annoying things. The big problems are things like pacing, and Rey Palpatine. I truly have no idea how you fix either of these, baring the release of some hefty deleted material, which seems somewhat unlikely.

Cameron Samurai’s idea of a 2-in-1 edit of TFA and TRoS, with a little bit of TLJ connective tissue, works well. Although it’s kind of disappointing to me at least since I think TLJ is the best of the trilogy. Maybe a better ending is worth it though.

My biggest issues with the movie are Rey Palpatine and Palpatine in the flesh, though, and unfortunately I don’t really think you can undo those. Maybe you could just lean way further into both and the other stuff in TRoS and come out better for it.

Speaking of which, I don’t think Palpatine laughs once in the entire film, which I think should be amended.

He actually does, although it’s quieter and I couldn’t really tell you where. I swear he does, though.
