I liked Rey being a nobody but I ended up liking her as a Palpatine more. It explains more of her powers and I like the theme that your blood/background don’t have to define you. Her parents were nobodies because they CHOSE to be. It shows that if the Emperor really wanted to, he could have used his immense powers to heal people and do good, instead of becoming an evil wizard zombie. If you’re a fan of The Last Jedi (I’m not but for the sake of argument,) it goes further with the theme of “let the past die,” and shows that concept can be used for good instead of evil as well.
