I know you said you wanted to finish before RoS, any chance youve finished them?
I would love to see a scene at the end of TFA, when Han is killed, we get a quick cutaway (like in Empire when Luke was on the Falcon talking to Vader) First Leia, knowing Han was just killed, then Luke, as he feels it also. That’s how I would have done that scene originally. It would have mirrored Empire. That would have been Luke’s first scene. Fans would have gotten that.
I don’t get why they don’t get this when making new Star Wars films.
It’s definitely not a bad idea, and I can absolutely see the emotional weight to that. The only problem is; if I, or anyone, should do this, it completely ruins the surprise of Luke at the end (that he is on the island, how he looks etc.)
Of course, what could be done - is a quick close-up of his eyes/face, perhaps followed with a shocked gasp, thereafter followed by Leia’s reaction. This way, I wouldn’t have to ruin the surprise (completely).
Also, doing this would remove the very beautiful “Falcon… wait… Where’s Han?” scene and the “Luke mourning Han”. Because this thought process would have happened already. In other words, it would remove even more humanization from Luke in The Last Jedi - and he’s very dark in that movie (although not nearly as somber in mine - or unstable).

So I’m probably going to stick with the original cut, unless I dub Snoke into a foreign Alien language and subtitle him. Kylo Ren/Ben knowing his language would be plausible, having been under his command for recent years.
If I should pursue either of these ideas, I would have to start work; tonight.
I want these two edits out the same day that Rise of Skywalker releases. They’ve been in the works for too long. I want people to experience these two films as much more original pieces to the Star Wars saga than what they were presented as.
I think the best thing to do is to either stick with the original or to find a voice actor with a spot on Snoke impression.

I agree. I’ll keep it to the original.

I need some feedback on this approach, before I either give it the green light or the bin:

This change is to TRY and up Kylo’s stakes in the film, and also make his motivation later on to betray Snoke clearer. Audio happily borrowed from a YouTuber.
I like the concept of it quite a lot and think it does up the stakes and give an insight into why Kylo may feel he is being played for a fool by Snoke (afterall, Kylo has already killed his dad…)
It did require a few repeat viewings to hear clearly what Snoke was saying - despite that it was some good voice acting (just the audio levels were a little off) - or I need another hearing test 😉
I think it is a solid idea, mate.
Cheers, bud. I agree. He should by now feel that Snoke is only using him to get rid of important figures, not by any concern or care for him.
I love this, adding to Kylo’s conflict, that his actions have been manipulated - and that Snoke doesn’t think of him as worthy, as Kylo wants himself to be just that to Snoke - makes his turn vs Snoke later all the more telling. A profound idea.
Ah, I see you have decided. Sorry (though still a good idea 😃 The volume was an issue for me, but I thought the Snoke voice was very good - and was just change of tone, or attitude, from within him.
Tighten Up and then turn it all the way up to 11!

Oh man, you guys make it really hard for me. My hope was that people would think he just changed his tone over to a whispering soft one, and here you come say it out loud. Now you are itching my brain.
Maybe I’ll give it another shot, to see if it’s possible to improve with a little more pause from “Original Snoke voice” to “New Snoke Voice” to make the shift clearer, and some volume adjustments.

DougieP, cutting Snoke’s Force-sensitivity entirely is brilliant. It would eliminate the need for a payoff in IX, and might even make the “Palpatine’s still REALLY behind it all” reveal more satisfying. Implementing it would be somewhat challenging, but there are some options:
If Palpatine’s survival is integrated into the trilogy as a whole, it could be implied that Kylo accepts Snoke’s authority on Palpatine’s orders (similar to Tarkin being pretty much the only Imperial who doesn’t need to fear Vader).
A powerless Snoke communicating with Kylo via hologram could be a security measure, so Kylo never knows where he’s located. This would take some significant restructuring of Last Jedi’s throne room confrontation, but it could potentially be made to work by playing up the angle that the first time they’re ever in the same room together, Kylo seizes his opportunity and takes the shot.

With ROS now out, whats the plan Anjohan? Personally, I cant help but feel that things are even worse now and I don’t know if its even possible to fix anything. Whatever you come up with, I am interested in checking out but I am almost in two mindsets now. Ether, I just forget about the ST and move on (6 was a great ending anyway) or take every single scene in the ST, put them into a blender and see if a completely new narrative can be constructed. Most of these “new” planets look identical to each other anyway and whatever else can be fixed with VFX. It would at least be a fun experiment.
Whats your thoughts Anjohan? Has ROS affected what you were planning to do at all? Will you do this one too? If so, what changes?
@Cadavra
Thanks and yeah, that was kind of the idea. If I did do my own edits, it would be one of my top priorities to change.
Saw Rise of Skywalker, honestly think you’re version of TLJ will be a phenomenal work integrated with it. What bothered me most was the needless sidequest on Canto Bite that accomplished nothing, the time frame issues, and Luke’s treatment. You’re clips showing Luke as an actual master who’s providing some training to Rey are excellent. I’m looking forward the final work.
Any possibility of a new title? The Last Jedi, just two movies after they return, and with Rey still around, always felt like a wild misnomer. Frankly, the Rise of Skywalker would have been a better title, because by the end it’s his legend they’re all talking about.
Honestly, maybe TLJ should end with the first scene of RoSk, basically show Kylo hearing the voice of the Emperor, making his way to the Sith planet, and then end with Palpatines line about the darkside is the path to many abilities that are unnatural, then cliff-hang with the reveal.
I am now rendering The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.
I will revisit both for a Version 2 - a final version, upon the release of the newest and last SW entry. Simply to finish of TLJ with the Palpatine reveal.
TFA has a runtime of 2 hours and 6 seconds, and TLJ a runtime of 2 hours and 8 minutes - with credits. I re-instated Finn being caught by a Rathtar for two reasons:
… lots and lots more, but I’d prefer for you lot to experience the film as something new and exciting.
… and like 100 more alterations if not more, but again - I like to say as little as possible, and just SHOW.
Both films start with Rey.

Thank you for that!
Canto Bight is heavily trimmed, and ONLY the bearable and important story threads are intact. Removing it completely makes the film very empty and shallow as some essential machinery is noticeably absent.
As for a new title, I think upon the release of the latest SW entry I’ll make new crawls and titles for all three films. As of right now, both crawls and titles will be kept intact. I do agree tho, that “The Last Jedi” is a - pardon my french - fucked up title. Two Jedi titles, and “The Last” two films after “Return” just narrows the nine films down into stupidity as far as the titles go.
I think I’ll end TLJ V2 with Kylo putting back his helmet with the dialogue of Palpatine (and hopefully a clip) inter-cutting with that very scene. THEN - right before close to credits - Palpatine’s menacing laughter. Something along those lines. Perhaps the entire encounter with Palps.
So…

Not be up my own arse, but nothing has changed for TFA and TLJ. I’ve downplayed Snoke by far. I’ve removed Rey’s intense back-and-forth lineage debate and mystery. She questions her identity through her parents absence, but it is not treated like the trilogy’s biggest mystery. She is, in fact, ‘no one’.
I predicted well in that Snoke and Palpatine would have little to do with one another (except a throw-away line), and that both of them would serve little to the overall plot. If anything, these changes IMPROVE the latest film rather than me having to do anything for these films.
And Luke has a way better send-off than what he originally got (in my opinion), which is SO worth it when you look at what little he had to do in the latest SW film.

This is a little ambitious but what do you think of the idea of implying Snoke to be one the Sith acolytes of palpatine? Perhaps a “High Priest of the Sith” so to speak. This could be done by changing his robes to black/purple and redubbing him to speak Sith. I think its an efficient way of foreshadowing the events of TROS and would add a little extra Lore in TLJ.

I had the idea to subtitle him with an alien language on the previous page, but this is even better. A Sith language. And this way, I could make Snoke SAY what I need him to say (“My master, The Emperor himself, would not approve of you, Kylo… Ren!”) or whatever. A brilliant idea!
However, this will be for Version 2 once I have the final entry on my drive.

I can’t take credit for the Idea as it was brought up by someone in another thread, as for the dialogue I think it would be more affective if Snoke alluded to Palpatine as the “Dark Lord”, “Phantom Menace” or “Master of the Sith” soon to reveal himself in the unknown or something to that affect, keeping the surprise for TROS.
Another way to emphasise Snoke’s allegiance to the Sith would be through music and sound, adding the “Sith whispers” from TPM to the opera scene music would give a very Sithy vibe, also incorpirating some sith chants from the acolytes on Exogol would be a pretty good indicator 😉

You could always use some lines from Darth Nihlus. He speaks ancient sith the entire game.

Or, he could put audio from, say, the Japanese and Korean versions of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, in reverse and then put them together to make it sound like he’s speaking an alien language.
The unfortunate reality of the Star Wars prequel and Disney trilogies is that they will always be around. Forever. They will never go away. It can never be undone.
I also prefer to be referred to as “TNT”, not “Freezing”.
Both ideas are good. I’ll look into it.

I have to say sorry for the inconvience, but if you’re one of the people who have downloaded The Force Awakens TE you’ll have to do so again for a better viewing experience.
The render had gone fine, but upon my sixth (and as i thought, final) rendering I had forgotten to remove 40 frames of footage that was on top of another piece of footage. This occured at the very climax of the film.
New file is now out. The film will now run smooth as ever.

Hehe, happy to help!
TFA: 10/10 when you remove that footage overlap. This is the very first time I’ve not gotten bored or tired watching The Force Awakens. And the new opening is stunning. I loved the opening shots.
TLJ: 9/10. I still wished there were more of the Canto Bight removed, but I think you had to keep all the shots you have so I don’t know what you could’ve done different to be fair. I loved all the edits you pulled of and the movie runs at a very brisk pace. The Luke & R2d2 scene followed by Luke saving Leia was spot on.

True, but color graded to fit the blue of Ach-To. I thought this was an easy fix as the planets look identical. But I’ll probably add the original Ach-To in V2.
