How’s your edit coming along, by the way?

good, im a busy guy but im dedicated to finishing this thing one way or another, looking into paying some voice actors and special effects artists to help things move along and come out nicely

I’m doing some Jar Jar redubbing right now. Check it out: https://youtu.be/zDs0Y4krCqI

You may be planning to do this already, but I think more needs to be done to make the dubbing feel more integrated into the scene. Right now, it feels like a clean voiceover, as if this was someone doing a video essay on YouTube, especially compared to how Qui-Gon and Obi-wan’s dialogue sounds. I know there are audio effects through Audition and other audio programs that can help add an echo to dialogue to make it feel like it is being spoken in different types of environments. Alternatively, someone once told me about an older technique called ‘worlding’ where you would take your ADR, play it out loud in a location similar to where the lines are spoken in the scene, and rerecord them in that location. That way you are getting additional ambiance and echo that helps ground the dialogue naturally within an environment. Your Boss Nass scene actually has a noticeable reverb.

So, for example, in the Bongo scenes, you could perhaps take your new Jar Jar dialogue, play it out loud inside your car and rerecord it. Also, for how much Jar Jar moves around, I wonder if recording some foley for when he face palms, rests his arm in the chair, slumps down in his chair, clothes jostling, etc., could help sell the new dialogue as well.

Great ideas! Definitely plan to add some filters for the final edit. This first pass is just for lip syncing. The foley work is a great idea too

In that case you’re on a good track! I thought the lip syncing was really well done. Fits nicely!

I have an idea for a future PT edit: we will not see the birth of Luke and Leia. In fact, when Obi-Wan returns to the ship after his duel with Anakin, we don’t see a living Padmé at all. The last time we see a living Padmé will be when Anakin Force-chokes her, and we can assume she died after Anakin and Obi-Wan begin their duel. During Anakin’s transformation into Vader, we will not see the childbirth.

We should assume that Padmé died on Mustafar, and that Luke and Leia are just babies whose parents were killed during Order 66. Also, in a future edit for A New Hope, everytime Obi-Wan, Beru, and Owen bring up Luke’s father, they’ll be referring to a different Jedi and not Anakin Skywalker. Also, Luke wouldn’t mention “Skywalker” when he arrives at Leia’s prisoner cell in the Death Star. That way, we can preserve “I am your father” in The Empire Strikes Back without having to make it seem like Anakin and Vader are separate characters.

What do you think? 😃

The unfortunate reality of the Star Wars prequel and Disney trilogies is that they will always be around. Forever. They will never go away. It can never be undone.

I also prefer to be referred to as “TNT”, not “Freezing”.

quick idea:

Remove as much dialogue as humanly possible from Revenge of the Sith and have the fucking fantastic soundtrack carry the emotions.

I will play around with this.

That might just work! Honestly the biggest flaw in preserving the twist is the OT giving Luke’s name. If you could cut Luke’s line in ANH and redo the Empire crawl to remove his last name, it would actually be a twist.

Even better, cut Padme revealing her pregnancy at all. Maybe the children are conceived a few days before the purge, and Padme survives nine months to give birth? It doesn’t have to be fully explained.

I’ve long felt Hayden would’ve made an excellent silent film actor.

This is more of what I’m doing with Jar Jar: https://youtu.be/3FRqQt7N4q0

I liked it 😃
My only suggestion is that use Jar Jar to give some backstory.
Have him provide details about Naboo, the creatures and politics, and make that the reason Qui-gon keeps him around.

Um… she’d still appear to be pregnant, even when she’s confronting Anakin on Mustafar.

It’s funny how much this thread has changed. Now the radical redux thread is worried about Padme appearing pregnant.

It’s definitely interesting going back through and reading all the ideas over the years. This is probably one of the longest running threads besides Ady’s.

Has anyone thought about teaming up, to form a and b units handling different aspects of the films? Like maybe somebody into modeling, somebody into filming etc. Get together and reshoot some scenes? Improve vfx together. Maybe some are good at cgi models? Some are better at other effects? A general director working with a cinematographer and editor so hash over the shots. This is what Adywan did in a sense, though i think he handles a lot him self.

You’d need helluva team, a coordinated, dedicated and passionate team. Willing to work for little to no pay, taking time out of their free time. Having to fund the project themselves and setting up donations. And lastly having a thick skin to deal with criticism, warranted and unwarranted.

This sort of reminds me of when I tried to make a small movie a few years back, and it totally fell apart because of the logistics. I don’t want to be a debbie downer, but I think a similar thing might happen.

I mean, again, though, don’t let me get in your way, it’s definitely not impossible and the stuff you could manage to do if you pull it off would blow almost everything else on this site completely out of the water. Maybe even Adywan’s work, since he’s just one man. Think of what a team of men and women could do. If you don’t rush it, it could work out.

I think Adywan pulled it off so well because so many could hop aboard the project… everyone wants to improve the OT’s graphics. They are great movies and to improve their look is something we all agree on.

But the PT? Can we decide what to do? How radical do we go, and how much would we like to keep? Would people work with a graphics update for a movie who’s story / cast aren’t really that good (at least compared to the OT)?

Despite my concerns, I would do my best to support such a daring project.

Have the Death Star in ROTS have the focusing dish in the equator as in the plans. Then have the second Death Star the same. Suggesting that at some point they had to rethink the design and the first Death Star us actually a second one. And the second one is the original repurposed.

It’s so nice to hear from you Bingowings!!

I like the idea of the ROTS Death Star having the equator dish like the original plans had it. Having the Death Star II actually be the original prototype is a cool idea I hadn’t really thought of before.

Funding production on a fanedit like this wouldn’t work due to too many cooks in the kitchen.

And I’d love to hear more about you failed film, Saprky. Maybe on Discord?

Well, Its not like we’re getting paid already. Its already a passion project for everyone on here. Now as far as deciding up something, yes we would need a Director (vision) and Producer (budget control) to help guide the ship and manage it. The rest is a chance to show our skill, work, and dedication to something we obviously care about and are already taking time to do. I would love for Adywan to just have done it, but he has chosen to just do the OT. I am completely open to teaming up as opposed to try and tackle it all myself. Im located in San Diego and have considered putting out an ad or something for fans with materials. Props, model ships, and or costumes. Comicon is here so i know there’s gotta be some people who are down. I need to get a camera and have been looking around and trying to figure out what i would need.

Some proposed shot’s i’ve considered include Theed civilians and soldiers shot largely on green screen with some props for buildings. This would be for an assault on Theed. With some Federation and Theed ship models for some scenes. Reshooting a couple elements on green screen like the cockpit view (looks too digital), or pilots in cockpit. Building some of this is not hard to me. Side walls for props, or flooring is easy and i have some stucco materials and paint already. Would just need some 2x4s and plywood. Im an artist though i’ve never worked with models and scales of models, though im more than interested to learn and or help out in any capacity i can. These are just ideas for TPM, but are largely actually fairly easy to pull off with co-ordination. The most extreme shots i had planned was new storm troopers for ATOC and ROTS, replacing a lot of digital ones.

Being able to film new elements allows us to better control narrative, pace, and vfx control. Sure some of us have some more extreme ideas, but there also seems to be a general consensus about somethings.

Just think its a topic worth discussing. The tech and capability is there for us, Adywan already showed us this. This would get the best results though if done right.
