A bit of ‘between of a rock and hard place’ for them on this mate…
The request for the dying Star Wars fan to see the film was a public one (an open tweet) - apparently word quickly got to Bob Iger (or his people) who seemingly acted promptly so the dying fan could see it.
I imagine Disney / Lucasfilm / people connected to the films would still be fielding requests - or likely coming in for some criticism - if they had not acknowledged these requests / given an update?
