But it’s not in cold blood. Even in the original cut, it’s very clear that Han’s in serious poop. He’s held at gun point and Greedo made a not so subtle threat against his life moments earlier (“Over my dead body.” - “That’s the idea…”).
But otherwise, yes. Han shoots. Period.

My prediction God forbid they should change this scene again is Greedo fires and the shot ricochets off the wall and kills him. Han never fires at all.
