Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released) — Page 662

Thanks HanDuet, however, when I download the AVCHD version and try to play it with VLC, whenever, I seek the screen becomes all pixelated for a couple of seconds. What is with that? Using IINA (mpv), doesn’t even work at all. Same thing when I remux it to mkv. Why can’t there just be a normal, manageable mkv version? Who wants a 20g file? Seriously. Just provide a smaller version like 8G. ~5000kbps or more, something like that. I’m supposed to store 60G just for the trilogy on my HD? How much HD space do you think people have?

(glances at my multiple 2-4TB external hard drives which contain multiple 80GB copies of 4K77 and 4K83)

Yeah…20GB is a pretty standard file size for high-quality HD releases.

Well, some folks like to watch Star Wars on a bigger screen, so the bigger the file size in the video, the better the picture quality. For these folks, myself included, they saw the Star Wars films on the big screen and we want to recreate that experience of watching these films in that way. That is why Harmy released the trilogy in that huge file size.

I imagine the remaining GBs are for the multiple audio tracks. If file-size is an issue with you, peasejust, free software like MKVToolNix would allow you to remove the audio tracks that you don’t want, thereby reducing the file-size.

It’s still gonna be in the 14-16GB range after you strip out all but one audio track. Which, again, is a pretty standard size for a high-quality, high-definition file.

Just amazing. Throws out complaints and rude demands, without a thank you or please in sight.

Just gotta love the entitlement generation.

Lots of people have made smaller re-encoded torrents for just this reason. The quality is variable, though – maintaining the best possible quality is why these files are so big.

Just found this, thanks for all the work!

Been watching the original trilogy on D+ for the first time in a long time.
Amazing sound and picture, best picture yet by far.

However I had forgotten about the weird musical number added in Jabba’s lair in VI. 😐 WHY!

It’s so bad I had to stop it. Then I remembered that the end scene was modified too which reminded me why I haven’t watched Jedi in so long.

I wasn’t too happy with most of George’s changes with IV and V but they’re bearable.

I don’t have a problem that some do with the added scene in IV on Tatooine, the one with Jaba and Han talking in front of the Falcon. It seems to fit well and I understand that was meant to be in the original but they couldn’t pull off a mobile Jabba with the tech of the time.

Looking forward to watching VI again as it was when I first saw it in the theater.

Wow dude, you have any idea how much work this was?
You aren’t “supposed” to do anything, you don’t have to download these files, you don’t have to watch them, and you don’t have to complain about this volunteer created content.
[EDIT]
Deleted because it was too combative, sorry.

Please refrain from beating up the newbie. He’s been quite chastened enough.

Apologies

I’ve seen so much hubris lately I think that post triggered something in me.
I have deleted the most confrontational part of my previous post, and will endeavor to refrain from such behavior in the future.

I’m most of the way through doing Star Wars and I come home from work and the freerapid application seems to have stopped at some point. Now I don’t have a “frd.jar” anymore? even after re-downloading the zip file it’s not there. Please any help is appreciated.

No idea why. Maybe a virus scanner is deleting it for some reason (false positive, etc??).
You can try to get the remaining parts with other downloaders (like JDownloader). Can also get them manually using your browser, I think instructions for that are also in the guide.

Something did delete it…which is odd because it’s been running for like 12 hours the day before. Almost done now 😃

So I’m a bit confused, I’m at the last step (11) and it says “extract the first part of the rar archive”. But what is the next step after extracting that? Also can this be played straight off a thumb drive? Sorry despite loving tech I rarely get to do anything with it so I’m a bit of a laymen.

I’m still unsure of the next step and the mkv file isn’t in english…is that normal?

What are you using to play it? Some players can’t deal with the DTS-HD MA audio that the primary tracks are encoded in, so it might be defaulting to one of the non-English Dolby Digital tracks.

Try changing the audio track and seeing what shows up, or trying a different player - if you’re using a software player on your computer, something like Windows Media Player is not ideal, I’d recommend either MPC-HC or VLC (others have recommended MPV, but I haven’t used that one myself so can’t comment on it).

You should also be able to put the MKV file on a flash drive and plug it into your Blu-Ray player, or the USB port in your TV and play it directly that way. BR player should read DTS-HD MA just fine, the TV option is less certain. I don’t know about Xbox’s capabilities, but I know the PS4 doesn’t support DTS on MKV/MP4 video files.

Hello!

Is there an offical magnet/torrent for these versions? I’d really rather not wait 2+ days to download these due to mega’s bandwidth restrictions. The only mention of bittorrent in the official guide seems to be a warning to avoid public trackers, which wouldn’t be an issue if an official magnet was provided. A magnet would also avoid the whole ‘having to extract a million files’, which is nice, and would be easier for newbies. Also the link could never be taken down.

Thanks!

Thank you Ash, after a little research I changed the primary track to English. They’re all done now and look amazing at a glance. I’ll be introducing my son to them very soon as his first experience. Thank you editor’s for your effort and thank you responders for your understanding.

Hi all- newbie here. I am trying to get this for my sister as a Christmas present but I am not super technologically savvy… would anyone be willing to to save it to a thumb drive for me if I mailed it to them with a self addressed stamped envelope to send it back? If this is not an ok question let me know and I will delete. The rereleased versions suck so bad and the VHS we have is slowly dying…

It may be worth mentioning which country you are in Cmajeau? It may aid your request for help. Good luck 😃

Came to see if news had gotten to you. That’s pretty awesome that he has a copy of Despecialized. The no official OOT though is…sigh.
