idir_hh, I’m not sure about purple hair being childish or linked to low status though. Is that something established as a thing in the Star Wars canon? I’ve not read much of the EU. Isn’t coloured hair quite a common sci-fi trope?

oojason, I can totally see the idea of hair as a technical challenge, it must be particularly difficult in motion and with all of the different shades. Has anyone done anything the other way round? i.e. natural colours to unnatural?

I had no idea people linked hair colour to sexuality in the Star Wars fandom - is that explicit in the canon or just something the majority believe? (‘fanon’ I think it’s called?) Though Holdo doesn’t have a romantic subplot so why would her orientation be important?
