1.85:1 isn’t OAR…? What would OAR be for a US film from the 80’s that isn’t anamorphic? 1.66:1 was European standard, so I assume it would have been matted differently there, but surely it would have been composed for 1.85:1, right?
1.85:1 IS the OAR from theaters (including Europe) but it was shot in 1.66:1 and that’s how the Criterion releases are
Imo it works best in 1.85:1
