Do you have any plans on doing color corrected Part 1 and Part 2’s? Or will that be exclusive to the combined version

I thought I posted a review somewhere, but it doesn’t look like I did.

For Prisoner of Azkaban, I found two things that need fixing -
The scene following the trip to Hogsmeade. The dialogue from this deleted scene is also used in the following scene, when you can’t see the character’s faces. It’s the same explanation from Ron about all the different shops.

The common room scene after Black attacks includes a conversation about Crookshanks eating Scabbers, so Harry should already know. Later in the film, he asks what’s wrong and Hermione says “Ronald has lost his rat”. I’d just cut the theatrical piece here, and include the rest of the theatrical scene without that part (if there’s enough to keep, I can’t remember.)

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

nightslakerpoet,

Thanks for the feedback. There were reasons for why those scenes are as they are.

  1. For the first deleted scene you mentioned, I left the dialogue the same because I was trying to allow Ron’s enthusiasm for Hogsmeade to come through by allowing him to repeat the same thing twice and having Harry get tried of hearing it since he had already heard it multiple times. That was the intent.

  2. In the common room scene, Harry is over by the fireplace when Ron and Hermione are arguing about the missing rat. Ron goes to bed while Hermione joins Harry on the couches in front of the fire where they only talk about the Black attack. Harry looks to be consumed with the fact that he could have killed Black. There is no indication that he was aware of the argument Ron and Hermione had. So his questioning Hermione in the next scene seems entirely plausible for me, which is why I left the dialogue as it was.

@jjpotter

I had a question regarding the combined DH version and the seperate individual extended cuts of DH1 and DH2. Does the complete one film version have the same extended parts as the individual ones with the exception of the moved secnes you’ve mentioned before or are the individual DH1 and DH2 slightly different. Could you please clarify as I’m wondering if the complete combined version is the superior version or if the individual versions still are relevant in this complete JJP extended HP collection. Thanks

The combined version has the same extended scenes included. The only differences are the moved scenes to make a smooth combined film.

Just curious, how does one go about proving they own the films? I do own them but I’m not sure how to prove it.

I have received some complaints regarding my fanedits, about how they are hosted, how they were rendered, etc. I want to clarify some things regarding my edits so those that request them will not be shocked by how they are set up.

  1. These edits have a STEREO audio output. While I would love to do a 5.1 mix at some point, that is outside of my realm of expertise to take a stereo deleted scene and turn it into a 5.1 mix. I have other editing aspects that I would rather be working on, like adding green screen scenes back in, rather than trying to do audio mixing. I do not have a 5.1 setup to test with, so even if I did a 5.1 mix, I would have no way of knowing whether the changes I made would be good for everyone. So a stereo output is what you will get.

  2. I do not run a torrent server and will not host these on Google Drive. I’m sorry if that is how you want them delivered to you in those ways. I pay monthly for the service that I do use out of my own pocket so those who are interested can download the edits. It costs downloaders nothing to get them. I have them set up to download in chunks so users can download them in pieces rather than trying to download a 10+ GB movie at one time. Not everyone has fast internet, something that is easily forgotten in this day and age. I have set them up so they are convenient for everyone. Please be patient when downloading. If the edits don’t mean enough to you to wait to get them, then don’t download them.

I’m sorry if these are disappointments to some users. They are how I have chosen to present my edits. The snarky remarks I have received over the past week tell me that some think they are entitled to my edits the moment they want them. I edit for myself and for the love of the fan editing community and that is what I try to remember when I get comments like I have this past week. These are likely not going to be what everyone wants. I have provided plenty of sample clips for you to see the edits that were made and what you will get. If these don’t meet the standards that you have or want, don’t request them. I don’t want to waste your time or bandwidth to get something that isn’t “perfect” for you.

It should be mentioned that a recent revision by JJPotter has the stereo output some flavor of DPL so people with surround systems will still get a surround effect. It is quite satisfactory.

Try not to worry what some people say, they think they are entitled to everything. I have got a 5.1 setup & the sound is fine on that. I have seen all your edits up to DH so far & I all I can say is wow!!

Just finished watching your extended edit of Fantastic Beasts - The Crimes of Grindelwald and I must say the additional scenes makes this movie so much better. I really enjoyed the theatrical cut but again your extended editions of these films make them so much more interesting. Thank you for all of your hard work.

I am working on them as I have time. I had a death in the family recently which has made it difficult to do a lot of editing.

No kidding, cogebo. I can’t believe Warner left so much money on the table by not releasing Uber cuts of all the Potter films. We know whole plot lines were filmed and discarded for some of the earlier films. Anyone with sense would have thrown money at some special effects studio to complete the footage and give these the Lord of the Rings treatment.

We’ll probably just have to wait until some ridiculous HBO GoT inspired reboot series to see more officially.

I completely agree that WB left a lot of money out there. I have read so many posts from people that wanted extended versions, like myself, which is why I made my edits in the first place. I know there is a lot of footage out there that was shot, but we have never seen it. I am hopeful that one day this material will see the light of day.
