Info: Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith Theatrical Preservation (* unfinished project*)

This is a project I had in mind for quite a bit. My goal for this project to make an decent high-definition preservation of Revenge of The Sith as it was seen in theaters. When the film first came out on DVD on November 1st, 2005, the original audio remained the same, but one visual alteration was made to the movie (where we had a transition from Obi-Wan in Padme’s shuttle to the Emperor arriving to pick up a badly wounded Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader from Mustafar). That transition came back around in the 2011 Blu-Ray release, but there were a few audio and visual alterations made. The Rise Of Skywalker will be coming out this December, so it’d be rather fitting if I do this project.

He just recently released a v2.0 of the HDTV versions, and has said he intends to release a v2.0 of his theatrical ROTS using the updated video once he finishes with some tweaks to the audio.

I never knew that was coming.

Yeah, I don’t know how long until he releases v2.0 of his theatrical ROTS, but I’m sure you can send him a PM for a link to v1.0 (unless you have a MySpleen account, in which case you can snag it from there).

Unfortunately, I screwed up heavily on myspleen. It sucks another account cannot be made on there. Thinking about it just upsets me. 😠

Has a theatrical cut for Episode II been constructed?

No. It’s pretty much impossible since there’s shots that were shortened/removed (can’t remember which, maybe both) in the Anakin/Padme garage scene in order to cut in the new dialogue, and if you’re trying to match to the 35mm version, there’s shots (like Anakin’s mechanical hand at the end) that we only have in bootleg cam form.

Plus there’s supposedly other visual changes made from the digital theatrical cut to the DVD/HDTV version (similar to the added moss on Kashyyyk huts in the ROTS BR version), but we don’t really know if that’s actually true because we don’t have any sort of a real reference for the digital version at all, and any similar visual alterations from the 35mm theatrical cut to the DVD/HDTV are hard to gauge with certainty from the bootleg cam due to the poor visual quality of it.

I’ve tried to match the bootleg 35mm audio to the HDTV video just to get an approximate version, but that fucking garage scene throws it all off. I couldn’t get it to sync with the available high quality footage.
