Could we have checksums (MD5) for the MKV file please? Like the first 2 movies that have them in their first post.

All checksums for Harmy’s DEED releases are also provided here: https://goo.gl/mI0qtC

I believe this is the MD5 checksum for ROTJ v2.5 MKV:

That’s correct!

Hi community, I’ve followed TIUG’s instructions for downloading the files, and am getting an error unarchiving ROTJ_DEED_v2.5_MKV.part05. Is there a chance this RAR file is corrupt? Is there another place to download it an uncorrupted copy?

Author

I just grabbed ROTJ_DEED_v2.5_MKV.part05 and checked it with the .sfv file and it was not corrupt.
Did you try to download that same file again?

I’m having trouble downloading part 5 of the MKV rar through Mega. It retries a bunch of times then just hangs a few megabytes in. A little help? Thanks!

Strange. I just tried it myself and got ROTJ_DEED_v2.5_MKV.part05.rar no problem.
mega working

Not sure why it wouldn’t work for you. Maybe you hit the limit on mega, and need to wait a few hours before downloading more??

Edit: This is the 2nd complaint about part5. So likely there is something weird about which server mega is using to put this specific file…

Posted up by Harmy in his Despecialized ‘Star Wars’ thread - and just thought it worth a bump/mention for here too…

Hello, guys. So, as I said before, I’m getting this month off from work and I’m planning to work on Despecialized.
Now, the reason I’m writing this post is to ask you guys for donations. I hate to do this but as I’m a freelancer, being out of work means I’m not gonna be getting any income and right now, the VFX industry is kind of f*cked, because all filming has stopped due to COVID, so I’m not even sure there will be much payed work for me in the future. Luckily, if it comes to that, I can survive on savings for a while but I will have to cut any extra expenses, so I could really use some help with the software and hardware expenses for Despecialized.
Any donations to harmypaypal@email.cz are welcome and, of course, any donors will get their names in the credits.

Just to be upfront about this, I can’t actually promise any delivery date on Despecialized - I’m starting over with an all new set of sources and right now, I’m still trying to figure out how to properly work with the HDR sources and it’s a bit frustrating. But I’m talking to some guys about possible collaborations, including oohteedee and DrDre, so hopefully, we’ll figure it out together.

The FE Renegades thread; from the people who post ‘go kill yourself’, ‘fuck you’, ‘let’s throw abuse’, and more at OT staff & members. Four years on and still throwing accusations, slurs and abuse at the OT & anyone outside their Salacious Crumb filled clique. + FE Discord “to vent” more at the OT. Wook’s take.

Hello everyone, I was looking for an ISO image file of Return of the jedi despecialized with menu to burn to blu ray, can anyone help me please.

I can finally rewatch Return of the Jedi without any embarassing CGI shenanigans (of which this particular movie is fuller than any other in the trilogy), i could never thank each and everyone that took part in this project enough.

May the force be with you all.

4K83 is superior. It’s a 35mm scan from film prints.

4K83 is impressive, but I personally prefer DeEd, YMMV. IMO the dividing line is between those who want a perfect recreation of the theatrical experience, versus those who are looking more for something like what a respectful Blu-ray restoration of the film to have been. Both are fine goals.

i agree, although something like D+77 D+80 and OTD83 fit that as well

True. Might be best for a different thread altogether but I’m at that point regarding the OT and PT with wanting all officially released versions in best quality. So, I took it literally and meant, “Needs to just be a ton of film prints where applicable.” Otherwise it’s all the hybridizations of everything which made me utterly lost years ago. Too much to keep up with, especially DeSpecialized/Adywan, so I’m back into it again after perhaps 12 years.
Official being, for RETURN OF THE JEDI: 1983 film print scan, 1997 Special Edition film print scan (Laserdisc/VHS which has the bonus as a ‘side’), 2004 DVDs, 2006 DVDs, 2011 Blu-ray discs, and 2019/2020 Disney+/4K&BD release. Which is the main “pile”, aka Ridley Scott “HERE’S EVERYTHING OFFICIAL” type of release. Which happened with BLADE RUNNER, and other titles. I don’t use the term GOUT for the 2006 DVD releases, used to, the year is easier because of Movie-Censorship.com
This project is the “other” pile to me which I’d put alongside fan edits, but not necessarily. More being A sub-pile because it’s more of a recreation, and the tons of other fan edits I can’t keep up with being the B sub-pile.
SO, Official would be a dedicated binder aka theatrical experience and the releases I included which are on physical media, and then the other two being its own separate binders. The first one being an alternate Blu-ray represenation.
No telling how many discs I’d need to have for the recreation projects, and I don’t even want to get into any of the fan edits again.
Would be a fine BD25, since BD50s are still too expensive. Not the DVD9 or AVCHD. Why would I want to DVD5? I’d rather use those for random bonus feature or older tech preservations.

I’m considering a couple of those as soon as I get, and get AGAIN, a lot of the official releases. As I mentioned, separate “pile”.

At least there’s a ton of subtitles!

Film preservation is often much more of a cobble job than you may realize. I think we all understand your opinion on things at this point, so why not direct your attention to threads belonging to projects you are interested in?

My stance on revising fan edits.

FWIW, the AVCHD is sized to fit on a DVD9, but also burns to a BD25 or BD50, which could be necessary depending on how many additional audio tracks you include. It’s still an HD release. AVCHD is just a way to describe this funky method that some Blu-ray players have allowing for HD content on DVD media, which was a bigger deal when Blu-ray burners were rare, DVD burners were common, and people still wanted to burn HD media.

DVD5 was for those who didn’t even have a Blu-ray player – again, more of a relic of an earlier time when this was more common, but Blu-ray players are even today still not pervasive in all parts of the world. DVD5 was preferred to DVD9 for the SD downscale because you could avoid the layer change, which complicated the burning process and also sometimes made the playback experience worse (again, old tech).

Because Despecialized is older, it’s also a bit of a time capsule. Just ignore the older bits you’re not interested in. Personally, I always burn it to BD25.

The quote feature does work, you know.

I used to AVCHD a lot. Used to meaning I completely forgot how to. The ASUS Blu-ray disc burners I have can play those, of course with whatever Cyberlink PowerDVD number I have on my Windows 10 self-built HDR10 100% capable PC I have, and the UHD disc player I own can too.
So glad I skipped this ages ago, maybe I had it on a DVD9 but too damn lazy to check which ‘stash’ I have it with, and since I got interested in various preservations and edits again, BD25 is easy peasy lemony squeezy. It’d still be 3 BD25 at least, what with the NJVC guide in the other thread, and the other forum I grabbed this from. It’s just the BD25 documentary discs I’m burning for now, thankfully with IMGBurn, but the first two discs later. BD50 is still too expensive to me to justify burning this project onto, BD25s are less expensive.
No need for me to get any multi-disc BD cases, would rather have these in those crazy 200+ disc binders though. Would take up less space. It’s what I meant with the ‘piles’ regarding my mindset.
Documentary discs are of course a different pile altogether.
Still nice this project features subtitles. More should. Especially fan edits.

Updates to my guide for Harmy’s DEED are upcoming. This document is intended to help answer the common questions on how to obtain Harmy’s releases, but is admittedly outdated at the moment. Expect minor updates today and refinement over the next week or two.

When an alternative, verified download source becomes available for ROTJ DEED v3.0, I can provide direction to that. Feel welcome to DM me if you are aware of such options.

Harmy: Can we get checksums for the successfully-extracted files to verify the integrity of downloaded copies? Thanks for your continued amazing work!

Yes, I’m uploading to ulozto as well - it’s slow in the free version but there’s never been a problem with traffic when I released the previous versions through there. But those links won’t be available until tomorrow at the earliest.
