Remember when Saddan did that election and people voted with their own blood, and he got 99% of the votes? Well even then the election wasn't rigged and frauded as this one is. Even Pol Pot and Idi Amin Dada had more dignity in their rise to power than these candidates. This is a freak circus, not a serious election! You people must demand a constitutional emend that would allow the election to be ruled by the federal office, not the municipal one. I've seen better elections in Africa than this one...

First of all if the examples you cited are true and accurate, then I agree that they are complete disgraces! and serious action is required .

I will agree that there are serious problems with our election system that need to be fixed, but to say that ours is worse is just silly and an insult. I mean, in Iraq the choice was a vote for Saddam or a bullet in your head! How can America's election system possibly be worse than that!?! And if by some fluke Saddam had lost the election, do you think he would have stepped down? Come on now. People have every right disagree with America and criticize us. And I know in these times its cool to criticize America but comparing our election system to Saddam's and saying ours is worse is really offensive and wrong. What Saddam did wasn't even remotely close to an election. I do wish people would be more sensitive in criticizing America. No other is country has been more viciously attacked and vilified on this forum than my own. And I am sick and tired of it! I know we are not perfect and have made and are still making mistakes and deserved to be criticized for them. But please do it more judicially, intelligently and sensitively in the future?

And Gundark, you say there is no choice, if you don't like either Bush or Kerry, what about Nader, the Green Party, one of the other independents? or a write in?

I agree however that it would be better if the federal government controlled national elections at least then there would be more consistency in vote methods, and rules. I also agree serious action is needed to clean up these various voting frauds.

btw since you asked I had to wait about 4 minutes to vote and had no problems voting.

Personally, I think the electoral college should be abolished. It has long outlived its purpose, if it ever had one to begin with. I think everybody's vote should be of equal value. With the electoral college, they are not.

CNN has called Ohio "Too Close to Call". It's not over 'til it's over.

bush is winnign in that state by 150 000. the estimates for provisional votes to come, is in between 120 000(republician estimate) and 250 000(Demographic estimate) that means that either kerry wont have enough votes to win or that he will need to win the large majority of votes.

What about absentees' votes? I've heard a lot of people have chosen this option and voted before 2.XI., inspired by the aggressive pro-voting campaigns. Do you think it will have any impact on the outcome or will fall into the "margin of error" category?

for the last two years i been listening to the radio show that interveiws alot of remote veiwers and supposed profites the larger majority of them in the past 6 months have been saying that bush would win a close election race that would take 7 - 10 days to decide and that he would have the popular vote.

Ouch, Chaltab. I suppose I shouldn't gloat and say that my first class is @ 4:30pm.

As to no choice, I guess I could go for a write-in, but there still seem to be some fundamental flaws with the whole process. While I like the idea of the President being separate from the ruling party (we don't have that luxury with the Prime Minister in Canada), the method of registering voters seems scattershot and ripe for fraud. In Canada we have voter lists that are maintained by Revenue Canada; you simply opt in or out of your addressing and citizenship information being used to create a voter list. If you opt out, you have to jump through several hoops in order to be allowed to vote.

Ah, who cares about Ohio, confused Florida voters and people misleading voters so they don't vote. Who cares if Bush gets to be the Emperor again. It dosen't matter who your supreme leader is, you are all doomned, pathetic human beings! Doomned I say!

Besides, since it appears to me that Bush might get this one (but still not over), I officially don't care anymore. WHO CARES! America will probably not invade Brazil for the next 4 years, so WHO CARES! Well I don't, not anymore. I'll still try to change the rest of the world, but to me, the USofA is not part of the world, not the world I care for anyway. AND I DON'T MEAN THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, those are still cool with me, they're good hearted people. I mean only the powers that be.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Well done america you've probably just sealed the fate of thousands of innocent americans around the world at the hands of terrorists by voting that lying corrupt arsehole bush in again.

We've also sealed the fate of thousands of murderous terrorists by making sure a president with strong convictions and clear leadership stays where we need him.

well, i guess the iraqis thought the same thing when he was elected in 2000. someone just has to say that your government is hiding bin laden or some other big bad terrorist guy and you're done!
