The MySpleen thread is testament to that.

It is airing on Spike Tv in the U.S. tonight. (I presume they air in HD?) Don’t know if it’s the two parter or not though.

How’s this for an eerie coincidence? The same channel where I recorded the UK SDTV airing from, is re-running IT again - right now. They’re using the cropped to 16:9 version now, so it’s fortunate that I recorded it last time. 😄

Was it at least the two-parter?

Yes, it was. Couldn’t see that channel shelling out for a newer master. 😄

It appears to be on again tonight - worth checking out if anyone wants a new recording? Here’s a photo from a promo item they sent out: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DNexGnMW4AARl32.jpg

I’ve just had a look. True Entertainment are really capitalising on the recent film release and of course, Halloween. 😄

This is the third airing this month, looks like they’re alternating between using different masters. It seems I was wrong: during the 1st screening this month, they used the DVD master that has the image cropped to fit a 16:9 aspect ratio and footage removed from the ending of part one and the beginning of part two respectively. Last week, they used the original 4:3 two parter version and now, they’re back to using the DVD master again.

Can’t seem to make up their minds!

Awesome job! I haven’t watched the whole thing yet (from this project at least), but I jumped to the cut scenes and they are seamless. Can’t even tell they were removed! Funny how the commentary track mentions stuff about the aspect ratio and how they had to frame it just right for TV to fit all 7 characters (which was made fake widescreen on the DVD version for some dumb reason), plus they talk about the fact that it was a miniseries airing on two nights (even though it was made into one part on Blu and one part cut in half on a flipper disc on DVD).

I actually synced the commentary track to this edit and would like to share it as well. I had to make a couple of small modifications to the track to fit this longer version of the movie, so everything stayed in sync.

Not really sure what you mean. I didn’t know of any TV only edits, only the edits to combine them for DVD and Blu Ray releases, as well as the fake widescreen cropping for DVD. The missing footage was taken from laser disc.

PM sent to you and Moiisty. I take it that The Hutt dropped off of the face of the Earth?

Hey, TheHutt, something I haven’t noticed before, any reason why the movie is window boxed, shouldn’t it take up a full 4x3 monitor on my PC? Also, the end credits for both parts are “jumpy/ interlacey” was the original laser disc like that?

it’s window-boxed because 16x9 televisions are the norm

it’s 4:3 picture in a 1:78.1 container

Yeah, I just thought it would have the bars only on the sides, not top and bottom.
