In what ways did TFA completely nail it, either in terms of filmmaking or in terms of continuity?

Another thing The Force Awakens nailed was… Harrison’s departure from Star Wars / Solo’s death:-

‘Harrison Ford on the death of Han Solo: “It’s not that I wanted Han Solo to die, I wanted Han Solo to be able to lend some significant emotional weight to the story. I was resolved to be useful and to pass on responsibilities to others and get out of the way.”’

The scene was beautifully done and shot, and certainly had that emotional resonance that had an affect on this new story, and also it’s characters - both old and new, too.
