  1. Yes, the specs are the same.
  2. No, don’t downmix the 5.1, use the 2.0 track - the 5.1 is a specifically constructed upmix of multiple 2.0 and 5.1 tracks to recreate the 1977 70mm six-track mix as closely as possible and is not suitable for 2.0-channel downmixing. The 2.0 tracks are all authentic, direct-from-laserdisc stereo tracks.

Hi ChainsawAsh!

A few questions:

Where can I read about the audio-specific things you mention? I haven’t been able to find these detailed track notes.

Someone advised the same and mentioned this, “…stick with the one that is already 2.0. It is already the matrixed Dolby Stereo that can be decoded into 4.0 tracks by any pro-logic decoder.”
Can you confirm this?

Do you have any feelings about the mono mix? I had not originally thought to include that in the final squished file, but someone mentioned that it was unique. I do know it was designed to recreate the original 1977 theater experience. (I saw it in 1977 at the Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd!) Other than that fact, is there any other reason I might consider keeping it? Typically I would go for only 5.1 and 2.0. In what situation would it be used? 5.1 system? 2.0 devices?

Excellent info!

Thank you!
