Idea: The Blues Brothers - original stereo mix preservation

The Blu-ray 5.1 remix has a lot of notable changes (in both versions) to the sound effects, and all of the songs are mixed differently (and one cue is even changed all together). Was hoping someone possibly had a laserdisc rip or something that could be shared somewhere so the original mix can be preserved.

Did you check, if the 25th anniversary DVD with DC and TC has the original mix? It contains a 2.0 Dolby Stereo track.

Also the German Turbine BD set with both cuts contains an English 2.0 Stereo DTS-MA track on the Theatrical Cut.

I have the German Turbine BluRay. I can see if I can upload it somewhere.

Afraid I don’t have access to either one of those releases

I’ll take a dig through my laserdisc collection and see if I have it.

I know it’s a while ago, but I’d love to get a copy of the theatrical audio from this release if possible!

Thankyou so much! I had previously sync’d up the theatrical stereo mix from the old 25th anniversary dvd with the 4K video and that worked perfectly, so I’m guessing this one will work too. I’ll report back on the audio quality and mix, the old Laserdisc rip I had was heavily filtered and the 25th Anniversary DVD is dynamically limited.

Okay, so the Turbine audio is basically a lossless copy of the 25th Anniversary DVD audio mastering, with the limited dynamics in it. Fades out slightly earlier and there’s a beep at the end.

But it does mux straight in with the 4K video from the UHD blu ray, no offset needed (well, with my UK copy at least)

So great to finally have the original mix with the original theatrical cut again, in wonderful quality. Thanks so much BenjaminG!

I do have a laserdisc rip if you want that too

I’d definitely be interested to hear it, someone on another forum sent me a copy of the laserdisc audio and while it’s more dynamic, it also sounds like it has some primitive noise reduction applied to it, lots of twittery mp3-like artifacts in it.

Might be the same rip
