I do like a bit of the troopers searching the old base clip. 4throck makes some good points. I would cut the first couple of shots of the troopers standing. The shots do not mesh with the rest of the movie…they look too new. But the shots of the troopers walking and searching look fine. My 2 cents.

Yep, I’ll do as you guys say. I started working on an ANH edit. As soon as I have something more substantial, I will post it. It’s just an edit in line with my previous edits (removing any mention of Vader being Obi Wan’s former apprentice) with some new music tracks and some small visual changes (whatever I can do with only Sony Vegas).

I’ve used the title “The Saga Begins”, but it doesn’t work so well if you put a lot of importance on the prequels.
Some 50s Sci-Fi movie inspired titles: “The Planet Destroyer”, “The Thousand World Empire”
The problem I think is that “Star Wars” is the perfect title for this movie.
Reading R + L ≠ J theories
I’ve always liked the idea of chopping the episode numbers and titles off of the crawls and moving the movie titles to the place of the “STAR WARS” card. That way, we have Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi without calling to attention the need for prequels or anything like that.
I toyed with that idea once upon a time. I’m sure someone can dig up my mockups (just images, not in motion).

Sounding an awful lot like Empire of a Thousand Planets, there. Then again, it wouldn’t be the first time Star Wars is accused of stealing from Valerian.

In another thread I made motion versions. I didn’t even render new crawls, just masked out the Episode number, so it looked authentic.

As was pointed out when I made those, the thickness of the outlines in the letters is not uniform, which still bugs me. I tried a few things out back then, but the closest method I came up with ended up rounding the corners, too, which to me was worse than inconsistent line thicknesses.
I’m sure I could do better with these nowadays. Maybe I’ll give it another shot one night when I’m bored.
I really like them! Do a bit of tweaking and you’d be set. It’s a good way to “exclude” the prequels from any OT edits/accommodate any one of those three-in-one prequel fanedits.

What if the Rebels had pyrrhic victory at the end of RotJ? Like, they win, but their entire fleet is annihilated. It would really suit the bittersweet victory theme and just would be neat in general. Remember when Ackbar hung his head in sadness after the battle was won, knowing all the losses it entailed.
What are some ways you think that could be properly illustrated in the film?

Has anyone thought of combining Episode III and VI into one film sort of like Godfather Part II? I could see something like that working, maybe?
Way back when, when I was working on the edit the above no-episode-title crawl images were made for, that was one of the ideas I was toying around with for if I’d ever gotten to ROTJ.
As of writing this we don’t yet know how the wrecked Death Star is going to factor into Episode IX, but I had some thoughts related to the Death Star that could help tie the trilogies together.
In a few of the scenes in the Emperor’s throne room in ROTJ, we see a big screen to the right of the Emperor’s throne. In some scenes, though, there isn’t even anything displaying on the screen, it’s just blank. Maybe something could be added to the screen that could tie into Palpatine’s Contingency, the First Order, Snoke, or something else that is relevant in Episode IX.
Also, there is one scene where Vader goes to see Palpatine, and he is initially turned around in his throne looking out the window. Something else could be added to this scene, like a hologram that Palpatine could be looking at instead, which Palpatine dismisses when Vader approaches him.
These things don’t have to be anything major, just subtle clues, but these little details could be used to chronologically foreshadow elements in the ST for a nice marathon viewing of the saga.
Put Goldmember as the hologram so that you can reveal that Snoke is actually Goldmember.
