Yeah, I wonder how it would feel cut into the film. Might it simply look like another wookie joined them between scenes?

The removal shots look seamless to my eyes. Still not sold on the recolor. It looks technically proficient, but I think it would be better to remove him from all shots if possible and if the audio could be worked out.

I think both approaches look amazing! We are really in business now.
Let me see what can be done about the audio side of things, though it may be a couple days before I can. Even if that can’t be helped, I’m okay with at worst assuming a second Wookiee climbed up to have a word with the grand poobah.

In that case, I think poppa’s current version of those shots, cutting Chewie from the first scene and recoloring him in his brief second scene, is probably one of the better versions to go with.

I think the hands-on-hips movement Mayhew does in the first scene is a very Chewie-like characteristic, so it would still feel like Chewie even if he was recolored in that scene, imo. And like you said, Hal, we can just infer that another Wookiee general has showed up in between scenes when Yoda gets attacked. It is just so brief that I think a hypothetical new viewer wouldn’t even think twice about it. But his extended appearance and mannerisms in the first scene might make people question it more if he were to be kept there.

I wonder how possible it would be to augment him with other gear like shoulder pads and a second bandolier like was previously attempted for the other shots. The single bandolier is just so trademark Chewie.

The work is so impressive, very impressive! The removal shots are perfect.

I do get Octo’s comment about adding something else just to really help cement the viewer this is not Chewie. If that is doable I think that will sell it completely without a doubt.

I’m glad the Chewie stuff is getting closer! A second bandolier for the Yoda attack shots sounds like a good idea. I also like the thought of adding another piece of gear like a shoulder pad.

Anyone know where I can get some high res stills of a piece of gear to add onto Chewie?

(BTW, this is my wife’s birthday weekend, so not sure when I’ll get to these last changes!)

Ok, so here’s a next pass of the Chewie Augmentation for the Yoda attack! It’s the same link as before, but with the updated file:

This is to along with the Chewie removal shots, to appear to be a different wookie that climbed up to be part of the meeting.

I’m totally sold on it. That’s pretty impressive work. It makes me wish we saw this old, gray Wookie more!

Wow, that is great! Good word once again Poppa!

Perfect! Any particular reason why you’re using the DVD version of the roofs, rather than the mossy Bluray roofs?

It’s the HDTV capture from schorman13, for reasons expressed earlier. Given the look of TAS, the deleted scenes used, and even the brief Boleyn footage, I think it’s a little better source to use. Not all-around better, but better for cohesion.

Hal, does your edit cut the shot of Yoda dropping his cane in shock during the Order 66 sequence?

Author
Time

It doesn’t? I know that you can see Chewbacca and Tarful’s legs briefly in that scene. Are you just leave them as-is since we don’t see their faces?

I’m glad you mentioned that, because that shot hadn’t jumped to mind as I considered Chewbacca’s presence in the movie. I’ll see if poppasketti can alter the color of Chewie’s legs in that shot also.

Good catch, RogueLeader, we can do one more shot!
