I personally wouldn’t worry too much about runtime. The best length for a film to be is as long or short as it needs to be to tell the story as effectively as possible. If you do include that change, do it because you think it improves the film, not because it makes the runtime shorter. Pacing is another issue entirely, as I’ve seen short films that are poorly paced and long films that feel positively brisk.
