For those who don't know (dark_jedi), "Dead Alive" was written and directed in 1993 by Peter "Lard of the Rings" Jackson, and is definitely the funniest/goriest zombie movie I've ever seen. You would also do well to check out Jackson's "Bad Taste"; not a horror movie, but still awesome.
