That would be fantastic. It could be driven home by given Obi-Wan a not-blue lightsaber in the Phantom Menace.

I vote yellow!

I was thinking more along the lines of the paler blue that Ben Solo’s lightsaber was? I don’t know if I want the Jedi to have any saber colors other than blue so that Luke’s has a bigger impact? Yellow definitely seems like the way for Dooku, however.

I gotta say, green and yellow are my preferred lightsaber colours, blue is just too vanilla for me.

However, the idea of all Jedi having the same blade colour is growing on me. It makes little sense to me for a religious organization based upon ideas of stoicism, asceticism, and the wickedness of humanity and individualism to have something of such iconographic value be so easily made different to an individual’s taste.

Then again, the same could be said for hairstyle, clothing, and hilt shape.

Dude, yellow is my favorite color and you have no idea how long I’ve been pining for yellow representation.

Look, it’s either all blue, or any color. Lucas picked a really weird middle ground for some reason. I like the idea of everyone but Luke and Qui-Gon being blue.

It’s kind of a weird flanderization that Jedi are allowed to have such a variety in lightsabers yet have such weird restrictions.

Well at least in Canon, the lightsaber colors are a byproduct of a Jedi’s connection to their kyber crystal. So it isn’t really something they allow or don’t allow, it’s just a natural occurrence. And maybe that helps play in to how the Jedi have lost their way, since their dogma seems to contradict what the Force does naturally.

Flanderization! That’s the word I was looking for!..not that I knew I was for anything, but it perfectly encapsulates the issue.

I like the idea of everyone having blue sabers, including Windu.

I feel there were some missed opportunities with Dooku’s being more of a rogue figure, when it’s instantly squashed at the end of AOTC that he’s pretty much just a follower of Palpatine. If one could make him seem more of a rogue, I think it would interesting to see him with a white blade or at least silver. Colourless, and unaffiliated.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I worry that this would be a little too on-the-nose

Here’s Anakin and Padme’s conversation on the ship, but (hopefully) less awful.

I removed anything that could possibly show Anakin to be creepy, I even tried to make him sort of relatable. I tightened up reactions and made all of the line delivery faster, especially by removing awkward pauses between Christensen’s lines (faster, more intense.) I hope it comes across as a better scene than the original.

I also removed the implication that Jedi are forbidden to love by removing the second half of Padme’s line.

I was thinking it would wipe to Obi-Wan discovering Kamino.

Or it could cut to Anakin and Padme walking around in Italy talking about how ‘the queen asked her to serve’ or whatever, helping Anakin’s line of ‘You haven’t changed’ by showing us she’s still invested in politics? Whatever works better.

Man, Anakin’s Jedi Code loophole is actually a pretty clever line.

Yeah, I agree!

Here’s a test of how I could end the scene:

We don’t need an entire scene dedicated to how the people liked Amidala so much they wanted to amend their constitution. If the movie wants us to like her character, it needs to come naturally.

And here’s something extra:

The way you cut their transport conversation is great! No awkward looks from Anakin!

I don’t know if it is in the theatrical (I think it is a deleted segment), but as Anakin and Padmé are walking along that corridor, Padmé mentions how she hoped she’d have a family of her own by now. I’ve always felt that was a nice little moment that showed Padmé did want love and family, but put those wants aside for what she saw as her civic duty. I think this addition helps Padmé’s own motivations parallel Anakin’s, as they both have these personal desires that their responsibilities get in the way of, and it helps set up that Padmé does desire affection without being too direct.

This may be a thought for another thread (I’m new to the site), but I’d be curious to see someone rewrite the entire script from scratch without thought for any limitations in terms of editing something together, including (but not limited to) new characters, locations, and main plots. It would be interesting to even read a version of the prequel trilogy we should have gotten (the version we could have gotten if Lucas had done as many rewrites as, say, George RR Martin 😛).

While I feel vast improvements could be made to the prequels through editing, for some of us there is just so much that is wrong that it’s difficult to fathom a fan-edit that could truly fix it. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see that vastly improved version and admire those making the effort to work with what they have.

Here’s the introduction of the army:

https://streamable.com/mirrk

In keeping with the idea that Obi-Wan is lead through a mystery in this movie, You don’t actually know that they’re clones up until this point. The Kaminoans don’t mention the word ‘clone’, they only explain that they have an army in the previous scene. The audience finds out when we cut to the shot of all the identical children.

I removed the name ‘Jango’ and instead referred to him as 'The Bounty Hunter, Fett".

The cut from Padme to the Army suggests that while she’s having a fun time with Anakin, her mind is also on other things. I always wondered why she looked sort of upset at the end of that shot?

I also thought that Obi-Wan smiling at this weird mystery-army didn’t fit with his character and made no sense? Also, at the end of this scene, I might cut back to Anakin and Padme, or I might cut to Jango’s apartment? I feel like the spot I left it at is a good ‘cliffhanger’ for a scene transition, but I feel like we haven’t spent enough time with Obi to justify cutting back to what Anakin is up to.

Also: I plan on adding more dialogue to the shots of the clones.

Snooker, this is excellent! Agreed about Padmes expression. Now, with the transition you have, it’s as if that’s what her mind turns to. Love it.
The ANH music works wonderfully! By-the-way, on the AOTC extras disc the sound effects for the Clone Troopers marching and standing at attention is available to you…minus the music. I think it’s probably on the sound effects feature with Ben Burt…can’t remember for sure.
I like you’re overall approach for the clones in this edit. I like it because it doesn’t make it a huge deal. It was never meant to be. 😛

Here’s the first bit of Obi-Wan on Kamino with that same mentality:

https://streamable.com/qv9z2

Obi-Wan has a problem in this movie where he tells strangers his entire plan? Instead of being a detective, and seeing where his suspects go with things, he gives them more information? Why would he tell the Kaminoans that Sifo-Dyas was killed? In this clip, it’s clear that something’s wrong with what they tell Obi-Wan, so the audience can stay invested. ‘Why is Obi-Wan confused?’. Later, when he talks to Mace over skype, is when the audience can learn.

I also cut off the beginning of the scene because it wasn’t needed. We don’t need Obi-Wan to tell the prime minister his name, the audience already knows who he is!

I also removed the unrealistic waterfalls. They’re a distraction.

YES! Snooker, please make a complete sequence with this effect! Looks great!

I know the 2003 Clone Wars animated microseries has a cool rain sizzling on a lightsaber sound effect during the Anakin/Ventress duel that might be usable as well.

Is someone gonna try to add some food into the clones dishes ? I know they are “totally obedient”, but still, they need food !

Anyway, nice idea the steaming laser.
