Since Star Wars is supposed to have saved Marvel financially, and boosted the industry in general, didn’t it make the other comics he worked after it possible?

Maybe in a perfect world you get to choose what people remember you for, but not in this one. One should be grateful people want you to sign stuff at all.
Stephen King keeps ragging on Kubrick for The Shining, but he has signed items related to the movie, not just his novel, and gave his blessing to the movie adaptation of his sequel Dr. Sleep tying into the Kubrick film. I don’t think he has ever knocked the fans of the film.

Star Wars may not be Chaykin’s finest work, but it meant a heck of a lot to a generation of kids back in the 70’s.
