I don’t believe this at all. These George Lucas rumors have been spreading for nearly every future Star Wars project.
This is not a rumor. It is fact. Abrams himself has stated, that they consulted Lucas while writing the script for TROS. He is the source in this instance.
I understand, but he was credited as a “creative consultant” for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. He is credited due to not only creating the franchise, but often Kathleen Kennedy or one of the directors will sometimes call him up for some possible ideas they can use, despite that George would later go on and bash the trilogy because Disney threw out his original ideas for the trilogy. He may have a small bit of help in the development of the story, but it’s very small and he isn’t necessarily writing the script or story, just pitching ideas that the filmmakers can later take and use them in the story.
