I’ve frequented these boards since 2003, and I think it’s fair to say… It’s nice when projects actually get finished and released.
I think this project seems great! Similar to what Ady has done but with a modern twist, which is what I honestly believe these movies need since the release of the sequels and R1. I’ve been kicking around the idea of doing something similar.
I kind of hope Ady will see this and get some ideas for the HD version of ANHR

Alright, so… I can’t promise you guys that this project will ever be finished. It takes A LOT of time (which I don’t really have) to work on every single element. For example, I was working on the planet from the first shot for like few hours and I’m still not fully satisfied with how it looks. Also, I don’t know that much about all these programs, so I have to learn them on a regular basis. But I can promise, that I’ll do my best to make this fan-edit the best looking ‘A New Hope’ you’ve ever seen! At the bottom there’s a custom crawl I created today 😄
And by the way, it would be great if someone please sent me a copy of 4k77 DNR so I can start to work on color grading 😃

This stuff looks great so far. How are you planning on dealing with SE elements? Like the battle of Yavin, will you leave that mostly as is?

I understand that from personal experience.
And once you change one element, you have to do it on all the effect shots.
But for ANH you are lucky: the movie has less effect shots and you can use stuff from Rogue One directly.
No rush, take your time!

I’m gonna leave those elements which look good enough, doesn’t matter if they’re from original or SE. I don’t have any specific plan for Battle of Yavin but I want to keep it canonical and only change it visually.

What about the greedo shot first and jabba the hutt scene? Are you staying those scenes?
That’s exactly who i was talking about earlier in the thread - that dude has some cool stuff, but never released anything, right?? This project shows a lot of promise in the same realm. Looking forward to seeing more!

I don’t know the intricacies of any of the crawls but the font for A NEW HOPE looked off to me…slightly different font? It also seemed like it’s at a slightly different angle than the rest of the crawl. But I could be completely wrong about all of this. Which film is the score from? Because it’s not from the original, right?

First things first. I used the same font for everything in this crawl. It looks better in my opinion. A NEW HOPE look like it has different angle because it’s taller than the rest. And the score is from A New Hope Soundtrack and not the movie itself (because it has better quality).

Awesome. Yes, it sounds sooo much better than what’s currently in the original. Again, I’m no expert when it comes to the crawl…any time I pop in one of the movies, it’s something I rarely pay attention to…I times times even skip it! 😮

Not a fan of using the same font for the title as the rest of the crawl (it’s never been done that way in any of the films, even though the title font is different between ANH/ESB/TFA and TPM/AOTC/ROTS/ROTJ; not sure about TLJ), and the GFFA looks too thin (though that may be YouTube compression), but otherwise it looks good!

Yup, I did use a correct font. But honestly, it doesn’t really matter to me whether the font is original or not as long as the crawl looks good.

That particular shot is one that I would like to see replaced. For one thing, R2 looks completely wrong.

^ that is an amazing tracking shot ! and there appear to be about 30 rebel ships , but they’re so small ,they’re evading our turbolasers !
