Disney's Beauty and the Beast [spoRv] BD-25 (Released) — Page 11

Ethically, I agree with you. But practically, the added grain (that is real, organic, not fake and artificially reconstructed) add a sort of autenticity, and actually improves the perceived detail (in motion, of course); that’s something that the eye could also not note, but the brain will know…

I’ve noticed some animation jitter on this release: instead of twos (2-2) there is pattern like 3-1.
Aturaten also noticed that.

In one or two places, close to the beginning, the framerate is a little wonky–such as in the bookshop–but overall, the edit looks like an HD print of the original movie, and not a Saturday-morning cartoon like the official Blu-Ray.

It’s probably come from deinterlacing and decimating.

Thanks for the input.

If you talk about eventual repeated frames, they are in the source - usually at the shot change; but if you have specific timecode, I could check’em immediately!

I like the new grained version a lot.

Would you ever consider releasing the untouched upscale from the LD?

Just repeat to yourself “It’s just a film, I should really just relax”

@Dulus: thanks! You are right, there were a missing FIELD that messed up the cadence, I’m working on the first part, the second should be similar so I think no problems with it. If you noted other problems like that, please report them here.

@SmegPod: thanks, I like it too, more than non-grained version. “Untouched upscale”, what do you mean? Untouched original video, just upscaled? Warning, it will be quite ugly, and I don’t see the point - you can always get almost the same result watching the laserdisc through a video processor (or even a simple DVD recorder, that will be used in pass-through mode to decomb and deinterlace).

Yeah, that’s pretty much what I mean - a straight rip of the raw capture you used could be useful for others’ projects, as well as those of us without the luxury of a laserdisc player and an LD copy of BATB.

So, better the untouched caps, instead of the upscaled one… if you think the total is 30GB, and the final 1080p is 25GB… it will take at least TEN day to upload it! 😕 I should think about this.

I’ve found the magnet link to my project; there are two/three seeders at the moment, so if anyone is interested in this, drop me a PM.

Hi, I’m new in this forum, English isn’t my native language and I don’t know how to send a PM here, so I’m using reply function to ask you for the magnet link of your proyect, I would be thankful if it could be possible. Thanks, have a nice day!

If possible, would anyone be willing to release a smaller version of the file?

Hello,
Can someone PM me a download or a torrent link please?

Thanks.

Seconding the request for the smaller version with just the video file. I personally have no interest in burning it, and it seems like it’d be useful to have a more portable version for sharing.

Is this not available on blu? I can’t find it anywhere, but would love to have it!

Sadly, I have deleted the file quite some time ago… BUT… there was an alive torrent, few days ago - at least, according to someone that PM me. Frankly, he didn’t send me the link, so I can’t say where to pick up it, yet I’m pretty sure it could be “almost” easy to find out, with a little of google-fu!

Hey, all.

Not-so-new to the site, but my first time answering on posts. Just wanted to let you guys know that I’ve not only found the release through Google (someone mentioned a citrus), but I’ve also completed acquisition.

I have been trying to find this.
Does anyone have a link to download the file or know anyone that has it and can be contacted?
I have the US Laserdisc and The Japanese Box set Laserdisc of BATB. Would gladly show proof.

And just curious about spoRv 's work. Isn’t the work done on this project archived anywhere?
Why wouldn’t it be available anymore?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks for all the good work and the amazing people who care about art.

I have finally been able to get the BATB project. Thanks to Redbreast1

If you need to send big files, definitely use filemail website. You can send large files for free and create a download link.

I recommend using it for large file transfers.

I discovered this website and spoRv’s project a bit late and would’ve liked to be involved in the process somehow, but I have a couple of comments.

I watched this version and I literally got goosebumps a few times.
Great picture quality. The colors are the best of BATB I’ve seen. That slight pinkish overlay color I see on the LD was masterfully removed and the sound quality is so crisp and amazing.

The only thing is, I would have liked to see less noise reduction or blurring. It helped some scenes to be clearer for sure but it caused some sort of distortion of faces and other details such as the opening scene of the castle, flowers, and small elements on the screen. It was more noticeable for me than the original grain.

Is there a version available that doesn’t have that filter applied to it at all or maybe less?
I am wondering if sporRv can provide another version with the original grain present.

What’s your opinion?

Thank you so much for such a good job and letting us experience the movie in the best way.

Thanks for your kind words!

Agree, I went maybe a bit too far with noise reduction but, hey, it was one of my first projects, and also the source is what it is… 😄
About grain, it was not present in the LD - or, at least, resolution did not preserve it so well.

Watching it with fresh eyes, the only reason to prefer this to BD is color grading and few shots that were changed in the BD; if I would update this, I’d use BD as main source, regrading it as LD, leaving only the changed shots as in the actual project.
