I could stabilize the Obi-Wan and R4 shots to help them fit better.
I certainly understand why one would want a little camera shake, but, personally, I love it that it doesn’t. Very OT imho.

True, but I think the precedent (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ljo-YxsvV1Y) has a little motion on the screen shots too. Basically, however much motion is present on some of the shots needs to be present on all of them.
Well I feel stupid. Interesting note: there is slight movement on the blu ray shots (like in the link above posted by timdiggerm) but it appears Adywan has stabilized those shots in Revisited.

The “broom boy” from The Last Jedi would’ve been a great introductory shot of Anakin. Imagine Phantom Menace starting with that, him looking up at the flash of stars, and it cuts to Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan on the ship. Maybe they can be crashing on Tattooine or something.

How about no.
Why not? That sounds like a great idea to me.

The idea is sound but the source it is being pulled from is not.
Why does the source of the footage matter if it blends with the surrounding footage? Or do you just hate TLJ so much that you can’t abide repurposing any footage from it for a fan edit?
You don’t have to bring your hatred of the new movies into everything you post here, Zerome.

I don’t

Good that
Is there really no better source? That doesn’t really seem passable.
Yeah, the change in quality is, unfortunately, jarring.
I really wish you could reinsert it, but I think it’s not possible.

Looks fine on my phone. 😉 Damn, it really works and adds some much needed humor. I like your subtle edits like removing “we are encouraged to love” - insert creepy smile
How weird would it look if you could essentially roto and insert Anakin into the existing blu ray footage? Obviously you’d have to manipulate a lot of it and CC it. Would the footage of Anakin not stand out as much? I don’t know enough about this stuff.

Maybe you could combine audio with existing footage, like I did in this recent video (all footage save for the last two shots are from a different source than the audio).
I find the issue not to be the video, but instead, the audio that lets it down. Though, I ain’t too keen on the video quality either.
It also doesn’t look awful on my phone, but this might work if you try to either drop the quality of the rest of the scene a little, or somehow increase it like with what has been done to other deleted scenes. Also if Snooker, or another editor, was trying to make the film’s quality feel more retro across the board, it might help hide the quality difference.
I wonder if you used a new slurping sound effect instead of the one used in the scene, it could help more. Also maybe regarding the scene to match the rest more as well. I think it is a nice moment and it could be worth the trouble to try and make it work.
I would also consider placing the establishing shot of the transport flying through space at the end of this scene rather than the beginning in order to help buffer the transition to the next scene.
My source was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZasLcoKWlY.
I don’t have the DVD copy of the movie, and I assume that the one on the Star Wars official YouTube channel is the best quality version of it considering it was uploaded more than a decade after the DVDs came out and could take advantage of everything that goes with that. If anyone has a direct, lossless rip from the DVD itself it might help, but I just don’t think anything will help it exactly match the surrounding footage.

Oh shit you’re right. The audio sucks too.

Youtube definitely compressed it, though. The DVD version might not actually look all that bad compared to the Youtube version. They’re both 480p, anyway.
Color correction could also help make it stand out less.

I have a really awesome idea of making the Trade Federation in Episode I more guerilla and pirate-like.
I will post some mockups later. I just had to post this to keep a reminder to myself.
Definitely will be curious to see what exactly you mean by that!
