Hmm. After waiting about 16 hours for MF.com's admins to activate my account, the thread has been destroyed, totally blown away.

I signed on there with the ID I use on car forums, which was already taken here. I'll try again with Darth Enzo and see what happens.

The thread doesn't exist?!?! I wonder if that's a sign that MF.com, as a whole, doesn't support what this PNG is claiming the whole forum is in support of. He's acting rogue and started his own thread and brought it over here before it could go bye bye. But now it's gone.

You are seriously considering posting with that username? That's like... naming your kid Adolf Hitler.

Well, if they've banned the good names on this site like YIYF's, then maybe they allow the enemies of the site amongst their ranks. Just an idea.

Mf just doesn't allow names that begin with "Darth" or "Jedi" I think.

What about "Yoda" or "Father"?

I don't see why he would block that. I don't want to speak ill of him, I think he's a great guy, but DP might have just not activated your accounts out of spite of your usernames you tried to use.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

You know Rikter's letting it go to his head. He's running around wearing an eyepatch with a parrot on his shoulder.

Right....something smell like bullshit to you? I know tons of directors that love it when people butcher the shit out of their movies and put their own name on it.

McCallum is quoted as having liked it. Lucas did invite him to the Ranch. Take that as you will.

I think Lucas only invited him so he can gleam some insight into his creativity.

No offense George, I liked Episode III.

On the subject of the Magnolia Fan invite to The Ranch.

Keep in mind--Lucas isn't the only person that invites people to The Ranch and just because someone DOES get an invite doesn't mean it was run by George first. The fact the guy went to a premiere on the Ranch means nothing but he knows people who know people who work there. It's not like George Lucas bends over a desk and addresses envelopes himself, nor does he actually draw up lists. Plenty of people have been to the ranch. I'm pretty sure Mags invitation was more a coincidence or a lucky break of "who you know" than it was a "Reward" for his editing, which is how many here choose to see it.

I know two or three people who got invited to the Ranch, and Rick McCallum and George Lucas have said nice things in passing to them, too. It didn't mean Lucas and McCallum INVITED THEM, or even knew they were there before they met. Because they didn't know who they were, or why they were there, and they certainly didn't invite them personally.

People here are reading entirely too much into McCallums offhand comment (it's very possible McCallum isn't very familiar with the endless variations of edits, he just knows there's a bunch of em) and I think it has a lot to do with--despite everyone's simmering distaste of the man--seeking ol Lucas' approval. the man is reviled to the 4 corners of the board, but he's trumpeted as the be-all end all authority when it looks like he MIGHT have approved of something someone here did. Odd dichotomy, there.

Just something to keep in mind.

To clarify, I was contacted at the MagnoliaFan78 email address, told that they got the email address from the edit, and that MagnoliaFan was invited to attend.
It was clear how they knew me and that it was MagnoliaFan they were inviting, not me personally under my real name.
Who it was inside that saw the edit and extended the invite is open to debate, but it had nothing to do with my own connections since I (under my real name) was not the person they invited.
Also, I never brought up my edits to anyone while I was there until others brought it up to me.
Honestly, if I wasn't asked on the subject first, I would have found it disrespectful bringing the edits up at a screening of their sequel.

thanks for the clarification. whaddya know, it WAS beacuse of his edit. But my other statements still stand. Hell, he doesn't even know who invited him

Which, I gotta admit, makes it cooler.

Yeah, there is a cool mystique to not really knowing who extended the invite.

What I do find so funny is the way that fans (George's and/or mine) feel the need to have this sharp divide that LFL feels either:

1) "That bastard butchered my movie! He needs to die a painful death!" or
2) "That edit is the most amazing thing that I've ever seen in the history of mankind! He should get the nobel prize!"

No one seems to really consider a reaction grounded in reality.
ie: "It was interesting... I liked how you made Watto sing.", etc.
