eBay has been kind to me. Recently purchased issues 3, 5, 6, 9, 18, and 49 all for a decent price (my collection beforehand was just 8, 12, 15, and 24).
Oh and also I got an original number 1.
Neat. I’ve been trying to get some of the movie adaptation issues myself, but they’re always a bit out of my price range (at least as far as what I’m willing to spend on single issues).
Yeah there’s a threshold for me for issues where I won’t pay past a certain price (I try not to spend more than $10 on an individual issue if I can help it) and usually when I see them they’re beyond that threshold. It’s nice when you get them in lots on eBay because they’re ultimately cheaper than when sold individually. I was really lucky with a bid on number 1 and got it for $25.
I’ve occasionally used eBay to find some of the more obscure comics I’m after (and gotten lucky a few times), but I try avoid it as I enjoy visiting comic shops whenever I’m abroad.
I love visiting comic shops, but I tend to find you can get better deals on eBay if you’re patient and vigilant. At the very least eBay is helpful to get a sense of whether a comic I’ve found at a shop or a convention (where I got a couple) is more or less expensive than usual.
Are you collecting any specific issues, story-arcs, etc. or just grabbing any orig. Marvel SW you can get your hands on?
At first many years ago I was gifted 12, and found a 15 at an antique shop and thought it looked cool (hadn’t read any at that point). By now I’ve read most of the series through collected paperbacks. I’m not really sure what I want to collect but I really love the series so I’ve been thinking recently it’d be fun to collect select favorite issues. I’d love to complete that first 1-6 set and then I’ll probably get 7 too since I have 8 and 9. From there I’m not sure, there are a handful of others I’d like to have but I am worried that it’s a slippery slope into eventually collecting more than my wallet can handle.
