The only things that I’m not a huge fan of are the apparent repairs of Luke’s lightsaber and Kylo’s helmet. The idea of taking stuff that was destroyed in TLJ and the just fixing them for 9 seems to me to just be discounting the forward progression of the story.

I mean, I didn’t even like it when Poe repaired his jacket for Finn to use between 7 and 8. Or the fact that Obi-Wan apparently just recreated his lightsaber from TPM when it was lost and then lost it again in AOTC. Man these things annoy me.

On the opposite side, I love the fact that the Falcon had a new dish array in TFA or that Anakin had a different lightsaber in AOTC that got destroyed so that he could make his iconic one for ROTS.

Thus ends my rant

Could also be a similar jacket? I’m sure there’s a seamstress droid somewhere who fixes up clothing. Otherwise our heroes would be in rags with all the action they’re in.

In ROTJ making your own saber was stated as being a sign your Jedi skills were complete. (And Luke did so in a deleted scene.) So fixing Luke’s saber ought to count, especially if parts are hard to come by now. Not like there’s a repair shop Rey can take it to. Unless Maz knows how to fix it. They have to shoehorn her into the movie again somewhere. 😉

In the prequel era there’s probably an armory in the Jedi temple full of spare sabers. Otherwise, they’d be building them from scratch all day long. A padawan is probably only required to build one once. When the Jedi show up in the arena in AOTC, they have two extra ones handy to throw to Obi Wan and Anakin.
