Kathleen Kennedy is explaining that the original trilogy are George Lucas’ films. George has said that the unaltered versions are not the films he intended on making, and saying that the Special Editions are his final cuts. I also agree that George keeps changing his mind on what he contends to be his final versions, but he has made it clear. Kennedy is respecting Lucas by not tampering with his original films, whether that be releasing the original versions. Now that George Lucas is no longer part of the franchise, there will be no more alterations made to the trilogy. As much as it disappoints me, the Special Editions are canon, and the unaltered trilogy will remain in the vault.

But don’t be too upset, we still have the Despecialized Editions. This is one of the sole reasons why Harmy created them.
