Not to mention Maul is an uncommon alien, so much so even Qui-Gon doesn’t seem to know what species he is. I’m guessing he also has to stay well clear of the Jedi Temple lest someone sense his presence.
How were the Jedi going to investigate a potential Sith attack that took place on a backwater desert planet out of their jurisdiction anyway? Fortunately the problem sort of took care of itself.
