My venerable Sony VAIO laptop is just a noisy fan, overheating, prematurely shutting down mess and can’t run 10 anyway. (In spite of Microsoft’s frequent attempts to install 10 behind my back.) It’s been a pain in the asteroid finding a new PC since everything that can be used for a home office is pretty much sold out now, and I can ill afford to drop 1K on a gaming laptop at the moment.
I have a less than three year old HP laptop I use for writing and light web use when traveling that can’t install the latest bloated 10 updates. A 32gb hard drive doesn’t cut it anymore and this model can’t be expanded.
I was able to get a Trekstor Primebook within my budget. While I’m not 100% thrilled with it, (minor flaw in the extreme upper corner edge of the LCD display and eccentric touchpad) it’s amazingly free of pre-installed crap I’ll never use. The other saving grace is an expansion port for another SSD as 10 gobbed up all but 30gb of a 64gb drive.
As said above, there are ways to make 10 a little bit like 7. This S mode crap might as well be ransomware though.
