bring the “finished” version of I-VI (including ANH) in line with the ST

This sentence is so frightening…

This is great news!!! Just in time for the month of my birthday!!

Less competition, less variety and less creativity in an already homogeneous industry. Wow, great news!

The possibility of an OUT release is merely a potential silver lining to what is otherwise a terrible, terrible thing.

I think the possibility of no more Alvin & The Chipmunks sequels is a silver lining. 😛

No matter how much we all want an official OUT release, Disney monopolising part of the entertainment industry is not a good thing.

It Disney didn’t get them, Comcast would have. This kind of thing has been going on longer than most of us have been alive.

For those of you who don’t know, RCA owned NBC.

20th C. Fox itself is the product of an acquisition.

Speaking of ownership of studios, I recently got the Blu of Sleeper. The UA Transamerica logo sequence is amazing! A shame it hasn’t been retained on other home video releases, especially 007.

A little research revealed that MGM is contractually obligated to remove any references to Transamerica on all prints per the terms of the sale way back when. It’s only been retained on Sleeper and perhaps a few others because exception was made when the logo is part of the film (in the case of Sleeper, the score begins to play over the logo).

You’d think all this time later, Transamerica would be over any negative association with UA, and they could work something out… but I doubt anyone at MGM cares enough about opening logos to bother.

My commitment to limited copyright and the public domain transcends any commitment to any Star Wars film.

So essentially your George Lucas.

Oh, yeah, certainly. 'Cause as we all know, Lucas was an outspoken anti-capitalist who didn’t own a multi-million-dollar production company, who didn’t make millions of dollars from IPs he hogged the copyright to, who then didn’t turn around and willingly sell both his company and his IPs to the Malignant Mouse.

Run along home and go play with your Star Wars action figures, little boy. Your attempts at repartee are feeble.

Well, you certainly hate the OUT like he does. Why are you here on a pro OUT site anyway if you hate it so much? Oh and how about you run along home to your special editions while us big boys enjoy the unaltered versions.

I see you missed the forest for the trees, as per usual.

To speak in clear, simple, North American English terms you will hopefully comprehend, I do NOT hate the OOT. I do NOT want all prints of the OOT destroyed. At the same time, I DO hate gross, rampant, malignant capitalism and I DO want gross, rampant, malignant capitalism destroyed. I hate Disney, I hate ALL of Hollywood, because Hollywood is a manifestation of gross, rampant, malignant capitalism. I would do anything in my power short of violence to see gross, rampant, malignant capitalism dismantled. If that “anything” included sacrificing all prints of the OOT — leaving the world with less-than-perfect fan restorations and recreations — I would sacrifice those prints — not willingly, but without hesitation.

Just stop watching movies then. They’re a luxury. We’re not talking about essential services.

Hey man, I totally understand your perspective and why it makes you so angry, but I don’t think anyone here is necessarily against you. I feel like your hostility towards capitalism and Hollywood in general is sorta seeps out sometimes onto other members on here.

I don’t know, I’m not trying to be rude. I get where you’re coming from, but I also don’t think the people on here are against you. Just sometimes your comments feel a little pretentious, and people are going to be less inclined to listen to you that way.

I’m glad we have someone that reminds us every once in awhile that Star Wars is a commercial product as much as it is a fairy tale, but maybe people are just put off a little by your fervor sometimes. But I get it. Just wanted to give you my two cents.

I’ll be at the Galaxy’s Edge theme park soaking in all the Star Wars I can, seeing Episode IX multiple times in Dolby, and enjoying my Disney+ subscription. Life is short, I am going to enjoy what I enjoy.

Maybe if Disney can find a way to fix auto correct I’ll change my stance.

Feel free to do that. But try to at least retain some class consciousness and remember what Disney is.
