“Everyone” didn’t. A lot of people complained about the humor in TFA, and it’s one of the aspects that gets trimmed a bunch in most fan edits.
Besides, the humor in TLJ takes a different approach than the humor in TFA for the most part ( suddenly being a punching bag, meta jokes like the iron gag - hell, the movie starts with a “yo momma” joke).
It’s less complaining that there is humor and more complaining about the type of humor.
