lol. Let's see, it's a MCA DiscoVision pr-7820. It apparently is the unit used for the "Dragon's Lair" arcade games. It was an industrial model meant for commercial use a General Motors dealerships in 79/80 to show the 1980 lineup, and to train mechanics.

And now, let the drooling commence. Don't hate me because you're jealous, now. I know you all want hires shots for your new desktop wallpaper, but I stole these from another site....

I'm pretty sure a lot of ugly people just got REALLY offended...

If "ugly" were "people", that would be China.

Yup, that thing exceeds one billion on the ugly scale, but I seem to recall someone [SilverWook ?] saying those old top-loaders were virtually immune to laser rot.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

can you repost the cover, please ?

about Blade Runner, the official DVD has not the trailer, but a different DVD from Warner has the trailer for the 1992 sort of Director's Cut. It is Altered States. I have this DVD and it includes the trailer in a 16X9 mode, 1.85:1 aspect ratio. If someone needs it for a new fan DVD, please PM...

Jerclay, only you can see the files that are on your computer. You'll need to put that image up somewhere publicly accessible before any of use can see it. Do you have any webspace you could upload it to?

Ooh, a laserdisc. The Cheat's playin' something on a laserdisc.
Everything is better on a laserdisc. Whatever happened to the laserdisc? Laserdisc!

I have another question for you guys about hard to find cult b-movies:

Blood of Heroes (US Release) or Salute of the Jugger (Foreign release)

I have only been able to find one copy. The transfer is bad, sound is worse and it is full screen.

I am wondering if the Foreign releases might be in widescreen and better.

I await an answer from the big brains...

PS - I could also use some dvd cover art in hi-res

Take your pick, both are 4:3 ('fullscreen' is such a misused description because if you have a widescreen tv then 16:9 is your 'fullscreen') because that's probably what the source is.

NTSC region 1 DVD: http://www.dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=76709
PAL region 4 DVD: http://www.devoteddvd.com.au/shop/product_info.php?products_id=681

A lot of films are shot on 4:3 footage and then cropped to 16:9, which is why companies (MGM in particular) release DVDs with 4:3 on one side of the disc and 16:9 on the other, the 16:9 is the theatrically correct aspect ratio but the 4:3 shows more picture.
I just got the region 1 DVD of Freaked aka Hideos Mutant Freekz and it's been cropped from 4:3, my German 4:3 release shows more picture, further more they (Anchor Bay) royally stuffed up the R1 release by burning in the 3:2 pulldown, it looks terrible on a PC!

Oops. You're right. Stupid me! And no, I don't have any webspace I could upload the image to. Maybe you can show me a decent webspace? And then I'll gladly share the cover with the comunity.

What I meant to say was widescreen. I Always consider fullscreen = pan and scan.

Freaked is in my netflix queue. I have heard good things.

90% of the time, when movies are shot 1.33 and cropped to 1.85 or so, it was intended that way. 1.85 movies, if I recall, aren't anamorphic on film, they actually ARE 1.33 images cropped, and that's the way they're shot. Some movies are "soft"-matted, which means that the entire 1.33 frame is shot, but when they are filming, on the monitors and such the top and bottom are covered. So when the film is released in 1.33 "full" frame, when the frame is uncovered, it is NOT how it was intended to be originally, and there can be boom mikes in frame, etc that aren't visible in the widescreen image. So, if a widescreen version exists, 90% of the time, even if the fullframe version shows more, the widescreen version is the intended version. The only exception I can think of off the top of my head is THE EVIL DEAD, which, on the newest DVD (with a DTS soundtrack) was cropped to 1.85 under Sam Raimi's supervision, but it was not how it was originally intended (fullframe).

My apologies folks. I have the set, just bought a new MiniDV camera, and am in the process of testing the quality difference between transferring LD to MiniDV, and LD to DVD-VR. I just have had NO time whatsoever. Damn pregnant wives can be sooo needy....... j/k

I'll keep in touch better.
