"Because the transfers were done from the original negatives, you're going to see detail in these films that you've never seen before. You'll notice this right from the opening shot of A New Hope, when the Star Destroyer chases its quarry over the surface of Tatooine. Just look at the subtle swirl of cloud patterns on the planet below - astonishing. Best of all, not a lick of added edge enhancement was required to bring out this detail. What else is good? The color palette here is more lush and accurate than ever before. You're going to be blown away by everything from subtle flesh tones to the vibrant gold plating on C-3PO's chest to the bright orange flightsuits of the Rebel pilots. Contrast is also spectacular, with deep detailed blacks and clear, accurate whites. All three films in this set are just going to absolutely blow you away, and the bigger your screen the better it gets. The Star Wars Trilogy on DVD is the best excuse you're ever going to have to go out and buy yourself a good anamorphic widescreen display. Until true high-definition arrives, it just doesn't get better than this. "


Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I had read that Lucas said the original versions didn't exist anymore. Did he mean 'exist' as in as far as he's concerned, or was he playing at the originals being destroyed? Since it seems that the former is true, would it not make savy marketing sense to release the true OT in the near future? Hell, I'd shell out another $60 for it, along with the release on Sept. 21, as I know most of you would too. Movies aside, it seems they're shooting themselves in the wallet by not releasing the original version. This seems to contradict the actions of the Star Wars marketing machine, as we have/have had everything from C3PO cereal to a Biggs action figure. It seems that they'll market anything that would make them money so I think it's inevitable that the OT will be released on DVD. Maybe as 30 year anniversary edition?

I may constantly disagree with your opinions and find your views on most issues abhorrent in the extreme but I respect your right to hold differing beliefs. However differing spelling is another kettle of fish, especially when English is not your second language.

Guys, please remember that Jimbo is not the model of the quintessential American. I'm a Californian, we do not all talk like surfers, and I know how to use a dictionary when needed.

Jimbo elected as President of the United States......I think that is just about the only situation where I would advocate presidential assassination.

Hey Mackey, how'd you get Jay to change your descriptor to "Zombie"? He did that for a bunch of us a while ago as part of a site contest but hasn't done it for anyone since. You must've really done some sucking up. (as a note, Motti and I changed ours back to the hierarchical naming structure once we reached "Jedi Spirit" - we wanted the distinction for actually posting 10K times).
