I think there is some truth to that statement, but I think the term does have some merit, regarding well-written characters from a uniquely female perspective. Just a lot of writers think a strong female character is a “strong” character that is female, but like you said Anakin, is a well written character. But I do think it does take some effort for male writers to write some female characters, understanding that perspective, depending on the story.
