I also now have the rental tapes of Magnum Force and The Enforcer. Unfortunately I won’t be syncing the Magnum Force tape for 2 reasons:
- The movie is sped up. Since Magnum is just over 2 hours, it probably needed to fit under 2 hours on old vhs tapes and CED. As a result the length is way off and the pitch of the entire soundtrack is higher as a result. So slowing it down and correcting the pitch would be a big drop in quality.
- The tape is in poor condition. I ripped the first 4 minutes and there are pops, crackles, snow, very poor shape.
The Enforcer however is pretty much mint in comparison. Some glitches on the end credits but that’s it. I can splice laser disc audio in if need be.
I also might make another thread about this entirely, but I have a widescreen laserdisc of Dirty Harry that’s somewhat open matte. The movie as we know it is 2.39:1. But this laserdisc is 2.20:1 and has more information on the sides and some on the bottom of the frame. I had no idea this version existed, and the colors are vastly different from any release prior or subsequent.
