And the only evil Empire I know of is the Galactic Empire.

I like that he's standing up and doing what he thinks is right. But what about what the people within his country think is right? He is supposed to represent us and now only 40% of Americans support his Iraq war efforts. He needs to get his story straight. He has changed his reasoning for going to war in Iraq so many times. I supported him wholeheartedly in Afghanistan because there were reasons to be there. But, so far, every reason he's presented for going to war in Iraq has fallen flat. Bin Laden? Nope. WMD? Nope. So now it's Iraqi freedom. What right do we have to overthrow a government? None. Just because we don't agree with it. So, by that rationale, any country that doesn't support or believe in democracy has the right to invade and try to overthrow our government (note the emphasis on "try" -- I don't seriously think anyone could actually do it).

I just want to know that we are fighting and dying for the right reasons.

We will never defeat terrorism. It just won't happen. All we are doing is breeding a new generation of terrorists. When people see their loved ones die around them, they become angered and want revenge just like Bush did when the WTC went down. Then those people vow vengeance and become terrorists themselves. Unless we're willing to wipe out the entire population of the Middle East, then it ain't gonna happen. And, even if we did wipe them out, human rights activists and closet supporters in terrorist cells in other countries are still available to make life hell for us. So, it's never gonna end. All we can do is shore up our homefront defenses. And how can we do that when all our military is in every other country but our own? Even our own National Guard is overseas.

Bossk. You are being a moral relativist. Just because someone belives that it is allright to rule by an oppressive despotic pseudo-theocracy doesn't make it allright.

And are you saying we don't have a moral obligation (screw "right") to free people from oppression? Have you closed your ears to the things Hussein has done? If that isn't reason enough to go to Iraq I don't know what is. And saying that because we found no weapons of mass destruction when we went that they never were there to begin with? That is like noticing something missing from your house and then assuming you never had one. It is more worrying that we didn't find WMDs in Iraq because if they were there then they may have been smuggled out of the country.

Ok. I'm done now.

Idi Amin used to eat the flesh of his enemies, and he supported the kidnap of israelis. Why didn't america take him off?

In latin america, the military dictatorships tortured and killed people for no reason at all. And still, they were organized, supported and financed by the CIA - they even taught torturing techniques. So it's ok for a dictator to torture and kill people if you're saving them from a fictcious "communist threat". But no, you cant do that if you have a huge oil field in your territory.

But WTf do i know I'm just a stupid cynical Brit who's got a gimp for a Prime Minister!

Damn, where's my Swiss flag again..?

Okay, let's be serious: I'm with ricarleite and die-jarjar-die and partially with Bossk on this one.

What the Bush government did is not the right way to rectify a political situation. Besides, if only it had been for these "noble" reasons! But it wasn't. It's all one dirty business. It's all about money and power, not about justice and liberation. It's mass slaughter out of greed and false pride. And I'm sure Bush, Jr. isn't the one making the big decisions -- look at him, he's lacking the IQ for such a position, he's just a puppet in the greater scheme.

But hey, guys, maybe we should stay away from political discussions? It's a dangerous topic for a public board, because in most cases it's ends in a war of its own.

Let's rather fight over which SW movie is best ... that's dangerous enough, as recent events have proven. *g*

Agree, and if we talk about politics, let it be on off-topic. Oh and, what's wrong with Return of the Jedi? Nothing.

Yeah, I've done this discussion again and again. Frankly I'm sick of it. We're there whether I and 60% of U.S.ians feel we should be. So why worry about it? It ain't gonna change. Especially with Bush's exit plan.

Or lack thereof.

Okay, so what really is wrong with ROTJ other than the Ewoks?

OMG!!
speaking of the Holiday Special...
you know how Lucas says he hates it so much and blah blah blah... well he must not hate it that much because he has the mask that was used for Chewie's son in the Lucasfilm archieves!!
i saw it with my own eyes...
surprising how he wants to forget about the movie but he still keeps props from the damn thing...

maybe he's planning on a revamped holiday special including all new CG scenes...perhaps Britney Spears singing instead of Bea Arthur...
hrmm...

All I can say is it disgusts me that y'all disrespect the President so much that you suggest he is going to war for oil or trying to finish his father's war. But you are right about one thing: we should continue this in the off-topic forum.

Sorry about that I didn't mean set off a political debate. Just so you know I never voted for Bush nor do I intend too. Its not because he invaded Iraq, it because he is no leader its that simple. He mishandled the 2000 Florida vote mess. He pick Chaney as his Vise President. He lied about why we invaded Iraq (if they had WMDs Sadamn would have used them). After he declared the War over, people are still dying over there. He still hasn't gotten Bin ladden. And I want to see that MotherBleeper burn hell!!! And after all this when asked if he could name a mistake he made, he couldn't name a thing I think Kerry will make a better President, not a perfect one but a better one. I'm done this issue

This is my last politics related post in this thread. I promise.

Bush not a leader? Right. I'm sure the charisma-free John F Kerry will make a great leader.

Bush has charisma??? He must have hidden hit behind his empty cow eyes or his ape ears.

So, a political leader has the right to do what he wants as long as he's charismatic enough to convince any schmock of it?

Anyway, back on topic....
