Info: 35mm Psycho print - for sale on eBay!!

It’s worth noting that this is not an original 1960 print, but is a reissue that has the Paramount logo replaced by the Universal one. Also, the current Blu-Ray of Psycho looks pretty fantastic.

Any particular need for a print scan?

The bluray screwed up the collars! What was the TRUE theatrical timing? I saw it 7 times in 1960 and the only medium that felt “right” since then was the discovision release!

I’m going to be 100% honest and say that I can’t tell whether you’re joking, as the movie is in B&W, though if you’re serious, I actually had no idea the colors/shades/tints/whatever were incorrect on the BD.

“collars” is a reference to a certain poster from a few years back, who used to ask when the “collars” on ESB would be fixed. Draw your own conclusions from that. 😉

Hmmm. I don’t think Uni changed anything on reissue prints. The big draw would be to preserve the open and IMHO superior 1.33 framing.

Thank you for explaining the joke. I thought it was pretty obvious it was a joke seeing as it’s b/w. I even threw in discovision to seal the ridiculousness.

You have to keep in mind we have a lot of new folks since Star Wars started trending again. 😉

Thanks for explaining lol. My guess was that it was a joke, but honestly, I would believe that the monochrome was somehow a bit wrong or something.

Regarding the German “uncut” version, the difference are fairly minimal, but they are definitely there.

Does anyone have that German version? I’d love to have the file for myself.

I had no idea about the German cut. I did some searching and I found a dvd9 made from two airings, one in 4:3 and the other in 16:9.

The German uncut version was always shown in 4:3 from the same old print until 2002 and for one more time in 2014 on BR (Bayerischer Rundfunk). There has never been a 16:9-airing of the uncut version, so this must be a fanmade edition.

However, I think it would be great to get the open matte-version scanned in HD from a 35 mm-copy. The German uncut-scenes could be inserted from the 2014 TV-airing. But the auction on eBay is already on more than $1.000 and it keeps on going until tomorrow…

I have it. The Bavarian TV aired it couple of years ago. It was SD, but still, it was a digital airing.

I have the 4:3 Laserdisc which I believe is open matte. If anyone is interested. Also, definitely excited for that uncut German bluray!

Hello, although I have uploaded many things in the past, my Mega account was taken down recently. If you are looking for something I’ve previously said I uploaded, I may not have it anymore or know where it is. I’m sorry

The uncut version has been released, completed with footage from the German theatrical version stored in some facility in Amsterdam.

The three cuts were by the way imposed upon the US version by the League of Catholic Decency who examined Psycho’s US version after the MPAA and prior to the US theatrical release. European theatrical copies seem not to have been affected by these cuts (although some countries had their own censorship imposed). That’s why the German print still had these scenes intact.

Did anyone purchase the box set ? If so, how is it ?

I have the box set. It is a blast. 😃

The movie itself is in two versions on separate discs:
Disc 1: English version with restored uncut scenes
Disc 5: German version with restored uncut scenes (German credits & reshot letter)

The format is 16:9, and most of the transfer is actually Universal’s. The uncut footage from a German 35mm copy has been graded to fit in.

English 5.1 & mono, German mono, Audio Commentary and the Isolated Score have all been adapted to accomodate new footage. The isolated score, has some sound effects on the extended scenes (apparently the German mono mix was the only source for those cues).
