Thanks for the PM, the only widescreen release is an old TCM tv broadcast on a foreign tv network The pan and scan english version is available via everyones favourite organ. This is from a pre cert VHS better quality than the one pointed out. Guess the letterbox version is still the holly grail.

I’m not sure how far you’ve gotten but I’ve recently completed a complete color restoration of Dracula (1979) on my own having just finished another project. For fans of Superman: The Movie (1978) please watch the links below.

I’ve been looking for a place to share this new Dracula: The 35mm Silver Screen Edition and will be more than happy to share my work here as soon as it’s ready.

Did anyone else manage to complete their own color restored version?

Cheers!

Would love to see this and the work you have done to restore it, afraid ive had no joy getting the colour corrected version of this.

Weren’t you going to be working on your own version of Dracula in an attempt to restore the original color palette? After completing Superman: The Movie I thought I’d try my hand at another childhood favorite of mine. Like many, when I picked up the DVD, I was terribly disappointed that Universal had retained John Badham’s 1991 Laserdisc color grading. I wasn’t sure if it was entirely possible but I think I’ve managed to nail it given everything I’ve read about what was done to the film. Please enjoy this sizzle reel of the final work to come.

Didnt have the success I wanted but this looks great, more so a dream come true, looks like you have done a lot of work.
Please do let me know when and where I can get this when you are finished, sure beats my colour pan and scan version.

Hot Damn! Been after a full color version of this since the bluray came out, even tried correcting it myself by boosting the colors in premiere but as others with little success. ITHoTMK, based on that comparison video you are a genius, cannot wait to sample your final result. Please keep us updated.

No problem, happy to help. Congrats on finishing a project that was first proposed a full decade ago on here! Looks great, too.

The link is still there.

If you mean the Vimeo link that’s just to a sizzle reel. Removed the other link to the film.

Thank you. Apologetically I should mention that the optical titles could not be restored as an additional black layer of text had been added over the white.

This Dracula sizzle reel is a much simplified demo of the Superman: The Movie 35mm Silver Screen Edition I completed earlier this year.
